SVG College Summit: Syracuse’s Scott Hecht on the New World of College Sports Video Production

Following a successful career at ESPN that, among many things, saw him help oversee the conference-wide facility build-outs for the launch of the SEC Network, Scott Hecht is now senior producer for Syracuse University Athletics, readying that campus for the new ACC Network, which is set to debut later this summer.

At the SVG College Summit, Hecht shared his thoughts on the evolution of the college sports video industry and offer his perspective on why this Summit has been such a valuable resource during that time of change in this conversation with SVG Chief Editor Jason Dachman.

I remember when John Wildhack was hired Mike Tirico was asked if he thought his alma mater had made a mistake in hiring someone with no college athletics administration experience. Mike's comment: "Are you kidding?! Have you seen John Wildhack's rolodex?!"

Had a chance to meet with Scott Hecht as part of Cuse Council and he is an incredibly impressive individual. He made it clear that he came to Syracuse for one reason. Because John asked him to. The talent that has been assembled, both front line and visible and more in the background like Scott is world class. And if you don't think the leadership position we are taking with the ACC Network launch translates to on the field success imagine being on a recruiting visit and touring a production studio that looks like NASA mission control when you are a young student athlete dreaming of a media career when your playing days are over.

We are in great hands.

Agree with all of this. Scott was chair of this conference and John was the featured speaker. That gives a good idea how Syracuse is perceived in this field. Number 1.
