Thanks for allowing me to join your board. I have been lurking your board for several months now and have followed the build up to the Tigers' trip to The Carrier Dome this weekend. When the game was announced, I had high hopes of being there, but as luck would have it, we won't be able to make the trip. If any of you would like to know anything about the team that LSU is bringing up there this weekend I will be glad to offer you my less than expert and decidedly biased opinion. In the meantime, I will keep reading whatever I can on here in order to learn what I can about The Orange before kickoff Saturday morning. I'm curious to see how Dungey's situation ends up. That was a BS hit. Hopefully he's able to bounce back and be ready to roll soon.

I have to admit that I have been somewhat of an LSU fan since my childhood - the days of Paul Dietzel and the "Chinese Bandits". LSU won the National Championship that year (1958) and my beloved Orange the next (1959). LSU has returned to glory and we are on our way.

The only other CFB team I follow is USC because they took the Big 10 to the woodshed for years and years in the Rose Bowl (I also had a daughter go there).

Anyway, welcome and good luck the rest of the season - after next Saturday!

EDIT: Oh yes, please put Central Michigan on your schedule.

I have always liked how LSU plays in white jerseys at home.

I presume because of the heat?

Welcome to our board, Le Shat!

I'm not real sure of the original reasoning behind it, the heat may have played a part in it. We wore our darks, (purple), at home during the 80's and into the mid 90's... a decidedly dark period in LSU football. Gerry Dinardo was hired as head coach in 1995 and led a campaign to get the NCAA to allow us to wear the whites at home again in an effort to restore some of the seemingly lost tradition of LSU football. We got that approval and have been doing ever since. We wear the purple once or twice a year..usually against non-conference opponents.

I will never forget the game where N.D. was winning 24-0 at half against USC and Anthony Davis returns the 2nd. half kick-off back and preceded to score the next 55 points. Loved every minute of it.

I use to follow LSU too as the always seemed to be on national T.V. and I just liked the attitude that they played with in the early 70's on defense.Plus I use to play in a few pop warner games in the snow and then see that their fans were in T-shirts and the players wore the tear-a-way jerseys that made me wanting to be there.

Welcome!! We've been looking forward to LSU in the dome and hope to make a game of it. We have more optimism than we've had in a while and perhaps our best QB in a generation. I hope you get to see him but that may have to wait until we visit LSU in a couple of years. Fournette is impressive but hope we don't get to see him look TOO good. Best wishes to you after this weekend. Let's both get through a weekend without significant injuries. LGO!!

Not that it means much but LSU is my SEC West team of choice. Along with UGA in the SEC East that makes you one of only 2 SEC programs I actually respect and find myself rooting for.

Would love to hear your completely biased opinion of what you think will transpire this Saturday. I have no false hopes about what will likely happen but would be interest to hear specs on all things not relating to your terrifying RB that we hope to contain. Do you have anything you see as areas we could successfully attack on your defense? Any chance our aggressive defensive schemes will actually net us getting to your QB?

Also... Saban

Very close buddy of mine lives in Baton Rouge. He went to the Auburn game this weekend. He's been destroying the Cuse - here's a quote re Fournette, "He'll likely kill a man on the field next Saturday - stepping on his head on the way to the end zone." Here's his direct prediction of the game, "bloodbath". Good stuff.

Happy you are posting Le Shat - I actually have a lot of respect for LSU - maybe the greatest fans in the country. Can't wait to go down there in 2016.

And I agree - Saban.

Defensively our biggest concern coming into the season was a lack of depth up front. We lost a couple of D-linemen due to discipline and academic issues that were likely being counted on to be part of the rotation. To this point, the guys we are rotating are holding up well, but it may prove to be a factor as the season lengthens. We have shown a susceptibility to quick release passing games. Dak Prescott and his big wideout DeRunya Wilson gave us fits down the stretch at Mississippi State. Some of that was due to the tempo of State coupled with first game fatigue issues limiting our pass rush late in the game. I feel like our run defense is much improved between the tackles so far this season, and it had to be. It was a huge problem at times last year. We are quick to the edge defensively. Seldom have teams had success going east and west against us. So, if I were looking to run successfully against us, I'd look to pound the interior and make those tackles hold up for the long term.
Offensively, it's hard to talk a lot about us without mentioning Fournette, because obviously he is the man for us. However, I think you will be impressed with our depth at the tailback spot. Our OL has been good so far. They are big and physical and really live to run block. I am hopeful that we will begin to use a little play action in early downs in the next few weeks just so we can maybe back some folks out of the box. Seeing 8 or 9 in the box was all too commonplace last year. I really don't have a feel for how we would/will handle an aggressive blitzing pass defense...mainly because we haven't thrown it very much.
I expect LSU to overcome a lot of early emotion and fire from The Orange and slowly impose our will offensively. We will continue to mash on you in the run game, even if it doesn't appear to be yielding early success, (see our Ole Miss game from last year). I think eventually our depth at the TB spot coupled with the physical play of our OL will allow us to pull away. (Biased? Highly likely!!)

what's funny is that if you ask other SEC fan bases their opinions on LSU fans, they will have stories to tell painting us as the most ruthless bunch of fans they have ever met. They tell stories of old ladies being tipped over in port-o-potties, of balloons filled with urine coming down on them from the upper decks, etc..

Then if you ask the fan bases of Washington, Va Tech, Arizona, Arizona St, or basically any other non conference foe, you will hear stories of our extremely welcoming Cajun hospitality, and how we will feed you and get you drunk like no other.
