Good Omen: Alvin Cornelius

I'm one of the few people who came in to work today. It is "Wear Your School Colors Day" or something to that effect. We have a strict dress code. We have to wear ties daily. On Friday's, we can lose the tie but we always have to wear a button-down shirt. We can never wear a golf shirt. That sucks because I wanted to wear my Syracuse polo.

Today I compromised and wore a generic button-down shirt but HAD my Orange Syracuse hat on. My boss saw me and told me to lose the hat. I said , "it's wear your school colors day." He said, "if it were 'wear pajamas day' would you wear pajamas? (An executive from our main branch) is here today. Lose the hat!"

Anyway, before I took the hat off, a female co-worker said..."Syracuse? Cool, my nephew and Godson goes to Syracuse and is on the football team. His name is Alvin Cornelius." I just have to think that is a good omen.

My a/c unit went out. Since I live in Texas, that really sucks. It was finally replaced on Monday. The new unit? Carrier.

You must have a real job that requires professionalism. I work at a tech start up. When I first started multiple people told me to stop dressing up. I was wearing khakis and a button down. Now I just dress like the rest of the slobs and I'm loving every minute of it!

We are the same with dress code, very conservative. We have an advertising agreement with NCAA so we support school colors day. On Fridays like you we can lose the suit and tie and go business casual. We had a note come out today that says wear your colors but stay business casual (button downs sport coats etc) so I wear an orange and white button down with a blue blazer today and more than half the people are in long sleeve T-shirts, knit shirts, and hoodies! So bummed I didn't wear something that says Cuse on it. I have my dome opened on my desk ready to go though!

I wore my Devo jersey with an orange under shirt and my Cuse hat to work today, I work as a kindergarten teacher, and one of my students gave me a bag of oranges because her mom saw me eating one on Wednesday. Gotta think that is a good omen.
