Fan health and coping skills during SU games

I'm saving my response to this thread for Saturday at about 7:35pm.

Don't even ask. I have about 20 things I have to do to "get us the win". I am probably close to a Tom level and it has not gotten better with age. Most of what Tom said resonated with me. Actually it took me more than 2 hours to fall asleep because of the excitement of that game. I am better if I have company at my house. Otherwise my husband will not watch in the same room as me. I have tried to curb the bombs though. So I just don't use swear words in my yelling and screaming as much. That is my big improvement.

We should watch games together and our spouses could do whatever they do then. Then we can drop as many -bombs as we like, and it will be a storm! Same for me on company - I try to tone it down some. I try...

I didn’t get out of my jammies all day on Saturday after UNLV game. I live alone. I can do what I want!

Much of that was the lateness of the hour. If the game had been at 3:30, I think I would have been okay the next day. Maybe.

I also do the TV “not in real time” trick, but more for bball than for fball.

Tonight I’m watching with friends. I find that helpful for ye olde mental health.

This was a fun topic!

Welp, I used to just get hammered most games and that generally took care of it. It was probably the most healthy outlet as well.

Now, I just have 47 panic attacks and white knuckle it until the final whistle. If it’s a positive outcome, well, then we are all good! if it’s a negative outcome I either practice avoidance for the entire week and try to act like it didn’t happen. Or, I wallow in self pity until next kick off.

I love football!
