Gotta give Dino credit

You mean Eric Dungy? Lewis was gone for 2018 and Mike Lynch had the reigns during the 10-3 season.
Mike may have been the OC, but Eric changed a lot of the play calls in all the games. So in reality Eric was the OC when Mike had that title.

Nope, won't give him credit at all. Yes those names are impressive and I'm grateful for them all but you judge recruiting by both the national ranking and within our conference. Those numbers aren't good.
Given what we know about recruiting rankings and the politics involved, I don't think its a good idea to judge recruiting success/failure based on the national rankings. Sure, if you're higher in the rankings, chances are you're more likely to have success... But even through 1 year of Fran. I'd argue our lower ranked recruits were more impactful as freshmen.

Watson - our most impactful freshman IMO - was middle of the pack and a low 3-star prospect.
Kerr - completely unranked with 0 stars on 247.

We'll see how it all shakes out, but the recruiting services are just guessing (outside of the truly elite guys) based on offer sheets.

That is literally what I just said …

Dino was better recruiter than the numbers said.
Zaire
G williams
Cisco
Trill
Dixon
Tucker
Barron
Lequint
Bergeron
Iffy
szmyt
Gadsen
Clark

That ain’t a bad crew
Besides being a false "prophet," he was unable to recruit offensive linemen, among other lack of qualities. You may have both socks up but you have been caught with your pants down.

Dino needed to go, and seemed to be phoning it in by the end, but he did some good for the program overall. We were ranked for 15 weeks under Dino including the only preseason ranking since 1998.

I'm not sure it was phoning it in as much as everybody figured out what he was doing and he didn't have another trick up his sleeve.

Dungey was not the OC, and you know that he changed a lot of plays how?

Sean Lewis was not the OC in 2018 and the offense took a turn for the worse when Dungey and that group of seniors graduated. 2018 was the only year that Dungey was able to stay somewhat healthy

And Devito won the FSU and UNC games

To a degree but it was the last season under Dino I felt we could score with almost anyone.
It was technically the same offense, but it was different. There was less passing overall and we didn't get the ball out quick the same way we did the first couple years. Was that the loss of Lewis or was it personnel changes? I don't know. Philips caught a million short passes the first two years with AET and Ishmael catching the deep stuff. It was a little more by committee with Custis filling that deep role with reduced numbers but nobody came close to Philips's production.
