Great piece by Donna about Mookie

That really was a great article. Great job by Mookie! Everybody makes mistakes - you just have to learn from them and take advantage of it if you get another opportunity and he has done a great job.

To be honest, I wish I had a few years of maturity on me for some of college classes that I probably could have gotten more out of.

What a great ending to Mook's SU career and what an inspiring beginning to his new life after graduation. All his perseverance and lessons learned will make a tremendous impact. It's great to have another Mookie thread on this board, and this one is the best by far far far. Good luck Mookie!

That was great. Felt like I was reading a Sean Kirst piece. What a well written and compelling article by Donna.

I love that he talks to current players. Everyone thinks that they're going straight to the NBA - things don't always work out, but that education has so much value.

Also, how cool is it to be able to say (especially with the NCAA crap) that SU gave him an opportunity to complete his degree on scholarship even when he was no longer a member of the basketball team.

Best of luck Mookie!

Well, I don't want to be "that guy", but Mookie and Devo graduating helps SU's APR, so it's a win-win situation.

That being said, it was a great article and I'm glad that both guys have returned to finish. It is a great example that you can always go back, and that education is important.

It also shows how important it is for schools to have more in terms of counseling available for students. I can't imagine how damaging it can be to lose something like athletics, which can be such a major part of someone's identity.

... for some classes in which you could have learned more.
Just saying.

Good for Mookie!

I didn't realize that Commencement had moved back to Manley. ;)

She's talking about the diploma ceremony; as when he will actually receive the diploma in hand. Not the large commencement ceremony that takes place in the Dome.
