Great stuff from Rahme re: today's (Tuesday) practice...

If a goal for this year is to improve the yards per catch, it would be prudent to throw to Stevens more than Wales. Not a dig on Wales, who is a solid blocking TE who can also catch the ball. Stevens is a lot faster and more agile, and based on what I have seen in practices, is capable of getting a lot more yards per catch than Wales.

Last year, our TEs had 73 catches as a unit. Provo had 51, Stevens 19 and Wales 3. I think we will probably end up throwing to the TEs a lot again in 2012. I project 75 completions to them this season.

My guess is that Stevens gets around 40, Wales around 25, and Cutler/Thompson another 10 or so. No one is talking about Cutler. Based on his time with the program, one would think that he would be in line for some playing time. But he didn't play much in the open practice...Thompson got a lot more reps. Sugar Bear won't share the Sugar Crisp@.

I am not a fan of that nickname after seeing previews for this.

I'm hoping for less out of the tight ends this year. It was great against WVU who never practice against them but I don't want our offense to be based on asking ourselves "Hmm what DON'T the defenses on teams with awesome offenses practice against? Tight ends! Let's do that!"

i think we threw to the tight ends a lot last year simply because we were terrible and it was a play that could at least have a nominally positive result.

Can we throw downfield NO
Can we block NO
Can we run NO
Jesus what can we do? THROW 2 YARD PASSES TO PROVO
Ugh ok fine

It is really tough to watch, really tough, he catches it turns and is tackled and you are asking yourself, did that gain yardage?

lets just hope that the 75 catches the TE post dont go for 150 yards
Stevens is almost a hybrid between a TE and a WR. The guy can run really well. He should be more productive than Provo was, especially if we run more plays to take advantage of his receiving skills.
