Orange Open Season at Greg Page Relays

The Syracuse track and field team kicked off its 2017-18 slate at the Cornell Greg Page Relays, led by a strong start from Danielle Delgado in the hurdles, the Orange had a productive day in its first meet.

Delgado cruised to an easy win by nearly 0.3 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. She crossed the line in 8.47 seconds ahead of Brittany Stenekes of Cornell. Aviana Goode took third in 8.79 seconds. Goode would go on to finish second in the long jump later in the day, leaping to a distance of 5.59 meters.

For the men, Jamil Adams was the top collegian in his 'Cuse debut, finishing in 8.17 seconds. 'Cuse alum Ramon Sosa picked up the win in 7.89 seconds. Chevis Armsteadfinished third in 8.26 seconds.

Randall Johnson led the men in the long jump, taking third with a mark of 6.90 meters.

In the 60-meters, Imani Clark and Justice Richardson were the top-two collegians, taking third and fourth overall times of 7.60 and 7.61 seconds, respectively. Former Orange standout and 2016 Olympian Flings Owusu-Agyapong won the event in 7.35 seconds. Dasia Pressley (7.66) and Victoria Parker (7.85) took seventh and eighth.

In the men's event, Chuka Soronnadi placed second with a time of 6.93 seconds.

Alexis Hooper finished fourth for 'Cuse to lead the Orange in the seldom raced 300-meters. She crossed the line in 40.57 seconds. Hannah Loder then took the top spot for Syracuse in the 500-meters, finishing in 1:20.83.

This was the lone meet of 2017 for the Orange, who'll ramp up competition after the new year.
