Greg Schiano...

We have sunk to the levels where carp and Schiano are present. Let's have some more pride than that and get ourselves together.

I brought his name up last year in one of these threads and I would be for it. Honestly, with so many other jobs open Syracuse might not have a shot at him. Could see him in play with Miami, South Carolina, Maryland and with open those are more attractive spots Greg might be in play for. But I would have no problem dancing with the devil if he can fix this program.

The fact that Schiano played a buttery soft non-conference schedule significantly inflated his W-L record.
Perfect!! You don't get brownie points for playing tough a tough OOC team and losing

schiano brought rutgers from tied with temple last in the big east to 1st-2nd in the big east and then helped them move to the big 10 because of their football.

You might not like him but when you look at the overall body of work he played a big part in all that.
He didn't have one great season but a couple. Not saying hes a good guy, or a candidate but he did a good job.
Big ten took them over Cincy or Temple.

The one Rutgers championship was split between four teams, one of which was a very down Syracuse team. No much of an accomplishment for such a great leader. Rutgers had no significant wins, no significant bowl wins, nothing outstanding to separate them from the crowd. If Schiano was as smart as you think, he should have stayed with Rutgers and had a job for life (at least 5-10 years, anyway, as he would not win in the Big 10 any more than they are now).

As to moving Rutgers to the Big 10, you give Schiano far more credit than he deserves, if Rutgers was any further from NYC, they would never have discussed for B1g 10 membership. Rutgers has been a disgrace to CFB and is returning to their roots. The real reason Rutgers is in the Big 10 is because the Big 10 waited too long to pull the string on Syracuse and took what they thought may help them gain NYC. NYC is a much bigger prize than Cincy (in which the Big 10 is well represented by tOSU) and Philly (in which the Big 10 is well represented by PSU). NYC could not care less about Jersey State College no matter how hard the Big 10 tries.

As for great seasons, you are correct, the ESB was lit in red once.

His character is horrible and his scheduling stinks. Even those that would bring him in now, assuming the best, would want him gone in five years because he refuses to play anyone of caliber OOC.

Oh Lord

Even forgetting the pathetic OOC schedule, outside of one lone victory over Louisville at home one Thursday night, did he ever win a meaningful conference game?

Cheers,
Neil

Oh he's not that bad. 68-67 at Rutgirls. Inherited a garbage program and made them relevant. If we want to go down this route, he's one of the available proven head coaches out there.

Look at who those 68 wins were against and you might rethink it.

Schiano bush league BS of having his Defense trying to take out the knees of OL when the other team is in the victory formation is more then enough reason why I don't want him. Guy is a joke, played a soft schedule to a barely plus 500 record. Washed out of the NFL in light speed.

As mentioned above, if we are thinking of a rehabbed coach, the Vest is probably the best option.

Personally, I think Sevyrud and Coyle will probably want to keep the university insulated from rehabbing a problematic coach and go with a person they believe will uphold the institutional goals relating to character and sports goals of winning games.

Too old.

If the FB program wasn't under 5 years of probation thanks to the NCAA and Tressel didn't have the show case he would be a great rehab candidate. However, he is the college President at Youngstown State. I don't think he will ever coach again.

enjoy the dance, he is a loser. i know his history and what he did at rutgers from first hand knowledge. if you enjoy smoke and mirrors, u will enjoy greg. he will take us no where!!!!! he has proven nothing. DO NOT hire that guy---take marrone back before u take schiano---marrone beat him with less talent---schiano is a great defensive coordinator and recruiter---he is a very poor game day coach. quite frankly, his recruiting expertise these days may be over, as he has been exposed as such a charlatan

Hired by Urban Meyer/Ohio St as d coordinator.
So he replaced a guy who left to become the Rutgers HC.

All those open head coaching jobs and I don't think he was seriously considered for any of them.

He could write a text book titled "how to screw your career up".

Schiano and OSU: perfect together ... Go Blue.

Will be interesting to see the reaction in the B1G the first time he has the Buckeyes diving at the knees of an opponent when they are in victory formation.
I can see Harbaugh running across the field then drop kicking him if that happens...
