GRob set our program back a decade

Using the assumption that SU beats NW on Saturday, a win over #1 USC would be so eerily similar to Coach Mac's win over #1 Nebraska back in '84. Program game changers. This program would gain some amazing press, and many of the sideline fans might jump back on to the bandwagon. Would be truly great to see.

Pasqualoni won six games, beat Pitt, UConn, BC, Rutgers and won a share of the BE and went to a bowl his final year.

All without the upgrades and money Robinson received.

Robinson won 10 games in the next 4 years.

Don't compare the two.

He said GRob was worse. I still can't figure out how UConn went from a Big East champion in 2010 with money and facilities already in place, to a team that didn't make a bowl game in 2011. Really doesn't add up.

Maybe if you study the fact you'll figure it out.

i'll give you a few hints.

A number of key players graduated- no QB and a fluke 2010 season during which the Huskies won I think four games without scoring an offensive TD at the end of the year.

Nobody saw a repeat of 2010 with or without Edsall.

But, nice try. Thanks for playing!

Jake was a company man. He was never going to throw Buzz or the financial bean counters under the bus.

I think that's probably right.

I disagree with the notion suggested in the thread that Jake was not proactive in terms of conference alignment.

In fact as we know he had a deal to move to the ACC in 2003.

You just stated mostly opinions, with a potential fact that you aren't even sure of. That's awesome. I am glad I played. By the way, UConn scored 12 TDs in that 5 game winning streak. 10 on offense. 1 KO return, 1 INT return. Good teams score TDs in all forms and play good defense.

Anyway, I just wanted to hear you say it (again).

I did find one interesting fact, but I'm not sure it really matters because it's probably a distorted fact. Per the Big East website, only WVU (with 10) had more players on the conference's 2011 postseason 1st or 2nd teams than UConn's 9.

How dare you bring facts to the argument.

by virtue of the title --- i refuse to read this thread --enough---everyone has ptsd from the g-rob years--PLEASE MOVE ON!!!!

Who really cares? The point is the staff has done a great job of turning things around and is headed in the right direction. That is all I care about.

I always look forward to discussions with you. You anti-P bias is like a beacon in the distance - I can always rely upon it.

I just wish I had the time to do the research you are able to do. I'll try to make some time this week and respond to what I think is a silly premise - that UConn was an outstanding team in 2010.

I watched most of the UConn games at the end of the 2010 season including the final USF game that the Huskies pulled out to win the BE and to the Bowl - without scoring an offensive TD. And I'm pretty sure, despite your research that they didn't score an offensive TD in at least a few games that they won at the end of the year to pull out of a bad season and win the BE.

As far as last season, the Huskies had no QB and that really hurt them a lot. That's why last year's starter is not starting this year.

And I'm pretty sure that when the season began last year, nobody was picking UConn to finish near the top of the BE.

But, anyway, when I find some time, I'll check out the stats and get back to you.

In the meantime, you're still wrong. See ya!

And last year they had no QB and that really hurt.

I can guarantee that my research took no longer than it took you to type this post. I produce facts quicker than you guess at them. UConn was picked to finish 6th in the preseason of 2011, that took me 4 seconds (I timed it). It would take me much longer to try to talk through how meaningless preseason rankings can often be. That's why I tend to look at postseason things, like all conference teams (took me about 6 seconds to look it up, and another 2 minutes to dump it into excel and run a formula to count the participants by team).

So don't strain yourself, just ask me what you want to find out and that way both of us can keep our free time open for other things.

In any event, I just like getting you worked up over this stuff. I guess I should probably be working. But I'm pretty efficient there too.

You are not only very efficient but very modest!

And it's funny, my perspective is that it you and yours who get all "worked up" whenever I defend P.

Okay.

Since you are Quick Draw McGraw on the computer go to the last four UConn games in 2010 and give me all of the TDs scored by the Huskies - how they were scored.

And tell me what offensive players they lost at the end of the 2010 season.

Thanks.

Took me a little longer, I was running errands when this popped up, getting ready for my big CNY trip.

Last 4 regular season games. You nailed the USF game by the way. Scoring plays on the right. The Cincy one will take a little longer than the others to pour through. Last is a link to the roster.
