I know that the schools have discussed continuing the rivalry, but will it continue as soon as next year? I sure damn hope so.

Get em in the Dome and lock the doors. Your motha's a dirty, dirty Hoya.

In 2013-14 we're committed to a game against St Johns at MSG, the ACC/B10 challenge, and the Maui Classic.

In 2014-15 we'll have St Johns at home, the ACC/B10 challenge, and we'll probably be in an early season tourney at MSG or Barclays.

Unless we cross paths with Georgetown in a Pre-season NIT or Coaches vs Cancer type event in 2014, it'll be at least 2 seasons before we can schedule them again.

Assuming that JTIII picks up the phone when we call.

EDIT: looks like Nova next season also.

According to Jim Boeheim, Villanova is "pretty much locked in" to visiting Syracuse this upcoming season.

Its time to let Georgetown shrivel up and die. There is no positive to playing them and frankly aside from them having a couple good games against us this year, they suck and have sucked for some time. There are so many mid-majors we could schedule, why schedule this particular one? Not even the Chinese Army team could punch any sense into these fools.

I can't for the life of me comprehend why any Syracuse fan would NOT want to continue to play Georgetown. Are 35K crowds in the Dome or Orange fans taking over the Verizon Center not entertaining to you guys? I want to play them every season for the rest of my life.

If you don't want to play and beat your hated historical rival, what's the point of even liking sports?

Its fun beating them. Theyre a quality opponent for now. If they turn into St Bonaventure down the road and/or recruiting in that area becomes less important, at that time it would make more sense end the series.

Baltimore and DC Recruiting-We have gotten tons of studs from there

We don't get those players because we play Georgetown. We get those players because Georgetown sucks and we are a better place to play college basketball by every conceivable measure. Why up their profile by playing them?

Oh I don't know, the incredibly storied history between these two programs might be a start.

I grew up hating everything GTown. When I heard someone went there for a good education, I immediately had a different feeling towards them.

The bball rivalry caused me, as well as others, to loathe that school for everything.

I'd love to continue playing them for the simple fact that I always enjoy showing up to the Verizon Center and pissing off their yuppy fans. Pretentious S.O.B's.

Agreed - The one upside to not being in conference with them is that we play ONE game against them (hopefully) each year. No "Maybe we'll get them back later this year or in the conference tournement) - although this year that worked in our favor.

I hate your handle. :noidea:

I think it's going to be NC State.
They're not nearly good enough to be that kind of rival to this program. I've never understood the overvaluing of that program by some here.

IMO Louisville is well on its way to being new rival numero uno.

Agreed. Pitt probably should be but I don't have enough respect for them to consider them a rival. It cheapens our program. Louisville is a peer.

At least in Pitts case, they've given SU fits head to head over the last decade, but yeah, their performance in March holds them back from being a true top rival.

You're assuming they would lose any first round game?:)
Upon second thought, you are right, they might win a first round NIT game, that is if they get all the breaks and good bounces although even then I would not put any money down on them to win. betting against GT in March is a no brainer.
