I am totally confused.

I was previously under the impression that the new AD has been decided and all it was waiting on is the right timing to announce...after Red is fired when last game is over. This means the new BBHC search may be happening too, interviews, contracts, buyout terms all being negotiated with new AD but in.

Now with an AD likely candidate no one has heard of, it seems to suggest we are still deciding on the AD candidate, that means whoever the "favorite candidate" for BBHC is all speculations as I can imagine JW would be out there interviewing and negotiating the BBHC position without new AD having a say, and I can't imagine BBHC candidates want to be interviewed without knowing first who the new AD is and what his visions are and if they get along.

So is all the BBHC candidates are just board talk all JW can do is to put feelers out to hand to the new AD a list of candidates to be considered and new AD can take that into consideration or go in a totally different direction right?

The AD is being approved today by the BOT. Not sure where the “deciding the AD” part is applicable.

The new AD is fully aware of JW and the hiring committee's progress on the coaching search before he took the job. These conversations have already happened. He will not be coming in and breaking the wheel and going in a totally different direction. He is new to the campus, doesn't understand the politics completely, yet the last thing a new administrator will want to do is come in and rock the boat. The new hire will be made under his name but it will not be 100% his decision. He will take the recommendation of JW and the hiring committee and that is who he will go with.

I'll add that JW hasn't vacated the position yet. He is stepping down on July 1st.

Not sure whether Blair begins working at SU immediately, on July 2nd after Wildhack steps away, or has some overlap to make it a smoother transition.

But I don't think that the new AD is going to be involved in making this decision beyond this point going forward. AW and the search committee have been coordinating this, and will make the decision.

Correct, usually there will be some overlap. If that comes before or after they officially announce the basketball coach, I don't know, but the new AD will be informed of what is going on and probably be asked for his advice during the process, but the process is too far down the line to randomly just change direction.

That's what everyone is saying, but if I am being interviewed for a BBHC position by an AD on his way out, and being told the new AD search is on going and right now it's between A & B & C subject to contract negotiations subject to securing buyout money subject to BOT final approval (can JW even say that?) but don't worry the new AD is going to be on board with your hire...I probably say hold on, let me know when the new AD is decided and a direct conversation needs to happen between him and I so I know what I am getting into.

The new BBHC knew who the new AD was going to be before it was announced. The BBHC isn't coming in blind not knowing who the new AD is going to be and the new AD isn't coming in blind, not knowing who the new BBHC is going to be. Again, I have no direct inside information, but I have worked for over 20 years in education administration so I have a good idea how this is all happened, as I have been on many hiring committees for powerful positions.

That's what I assume have to be the case. However the timing of all these are so tight I wonder how the moving parts are happening in its very early stages.
