I hear Marrone has them reenacting Varsity Blues all day.

I have heard a lot of things out of the players' mouths so far and Broyld is not one of those things. I highly doubt Broyld sees the field much if at all this season. Nassib is going to take 95-100% of the snaps with Hunt being the only one that gets in there. Broyld is going to redshirt there is just no point in burning the shirt when he's not going to make that big of an impact.Ashton Broyld. Enough said
We're running the "Oop de Oop"

Right now they're trying to find a tight end that can (wants to) block and that is only manifesting in the form of Beckett Wales, as it sounds like Stevens is going to just be a TE used for receiving. I would expect Thompson to possibly come in and compete for the top spot there in the summer. Sales looks great so far from what I am hearing; IB is right in that he is in the best shape of his life. PTG and Smith are locked in a battle for who is going to get the majority of the carries right now, and it's looking like a 50-50 situation. I guess the defense is very aggressive and the front seven are eating up anything that makes it to the line right now. That's about all I've heard so far.

This may be the year for splitting the carries between two or more running backs. If we don't have one who's clearly "the man" then let's keep fresh players with different styles on the field.PTG and Smith are locked in a battle for who is going to get the majority of the carries right now, and it's looking like a 50-50 situation.

We are both hearing to different things. I know what i saw and heard from him. A lot of you are underestimating Ashton's ability and competitiveness. He will be on the field this fall. Mark it down
It's just not in what I'm hearing at all. No one is denying his ability and competitiveness, but I don't think they want to rush things with him. He may see the field, but in a very limited capacity. I think they're focused on developing him and allowing him to stand on the sidelines and be able to see what is going on rather than trial by fire in which he can't truly learn form Nassib's mistakes. I doubt the coaches are going to want to burn his redshirt year for a couple mop up jobs for an outgoing three year starter it just makes no sense. We are both hearing to different things. Of course things can change and I don't know how you define "on the field" but right now...nope. Cusestudent and bnoro are correct, he isn't in any plan as of right now. But again, things can change in time.

He's not reshirting like some on here thinks. Not saying he will be on the field alot. I do know he will be utilized in some way. There's no way he will be able to understand the entire playbook and run the show. Too many obstacles in the way ( reading defenses, throwing mechanics, leadership, etc). He will be used because he can give the offense a boost at times. His season at milford was his redshirt in there eyes. Thats all Im saying
I'm not sure why redshirting is such a bad thing, especially at the QB position. Donovan FREAKING McNabb redshirted for crying out loud. You act like redshirting is going to stunt his development and is, in some way, a slap in the face. I think it's the exact opposite.

The consensus right now is that the front seven is just that good, and the backs are doing just fine. We don't have a TE big on blocking other than Wales, and we are replacing the right side of the line. I think the front seven is just that good and the OL will be able to hold it's own this season.I'm sadly conditioned to interpret this statement as "the o line isn't pushing and the running backs can't find space."
Did DM spend a year prepping prior to getting on the hill??
who said its a bad idea? I believe reshirting helps for QB's, but ashton not just a QB. He's a playmaker. If your Marrone and you see Ashton everyday destroying your 1st team defense, while he is on the scout O, you will have to be a moron to not play him now if he can help you sustain drives, create big plays and score in the redzone. Two things we struggle with last season. Makes sense? and we will have him for 3 more years. he's not a juco kidI'm not sure why redshirting is such a bad thing, especially at the QB position.
