Here I am, 45, with my kids watching a coach get driven around the perimeter of the dome in a golf cart. They have no idea who he is other than what they've been taught about him.
At twelve, with my father, I watched Ben Schwartzwalder do the exact same thing in 1982. No idea who he was except for what I had been taught. And they clapped, because they knew that they were supposed to.
Great moment.
PS- I don't remember how I got the autograph, but I might remember being rather low at that game. In fact, maybe I'm remembering another game altogether. I'm assuming this program was the same game as the "ride around", but whatever.
*edit* now I think the ride around was after beating Penn State in 1987, but still cool!!
