BC is a better job please stop. If he can win at a 7-8 win level he’s there for 10 years. Ambition and hubris has pushed the good coaches out.

Being objective (again, being objective. I’m a diehard born and raised central New York native)- there’s an argument JMU is a better job than SU. I might get hate for that, but you have to understand JMU is a sleeping giant athletic program in a great location. They have a nice stadium and same culture around the program that other big Carolinas/virginias schools have. Big alumni base. SU has a lot going for it in terms of the dome and history of the program, but you have to look forward here and see that JMU went from FCS to FBS and barely skipped a beat

Chesney was my guy as a fan of holy cross and seeing him up close. As a Syracuse fan it would b bad if he turned around and took this job. He’s a damn good coach. But for intrigue I think a rivalry would burn bright w Fran and Bob

At least it aligns him with another NE P4 school in terms of contract periods. Assuming he succeeds for a sesson or 2, he'd then have the higher level experience that he's lacking and be perfectly positioned if either of the new hires at SU or BC don't work out for whatever reason.

Agree Chesney should try to make it happen
I'd argue coaches have always had way less loyalty than the players, and the players are now catching up

If I was a young, ambitious coach and had to choose between Syracuse/BC or JMU, I would pick JMU in a heartbeat. While Syracuse and BC are in a power conference, it’s going to be incredibly difficult to compete at a level high enough to progress to a program that can compete for national championships annually. At JMU, a good coach should win enough to be able to land their next job at a school which has more resources and should be competing for championships (as much as I hate it, Virginia Tech is an example).
Syracuse is the better option for two types of coaches:
1) Older coaches who probably won’t be that attractive to bigger programs due to age (like Dino)
2) Someone who think they bring unique qualifications and will be able to unlock the advantages of Syracuse’s history and energize a fan base into a level of success literally no one in college football thinks is possible at Syracuse anymore (like Fran).
Anyone taking the BC job has to know you’ll never be successful enough there to progress to a better job, and at some point you’ll have a couple bad seasons and will be fired. That is a place careers go to die at this point, anyone thinking that’s a better spot than JMU is not thinking long term.
I doubt Chesney is upset about this development and would prefer to be at BC over JMU.

Other than the fact that Syracuse DC makes 2x what the JMU head coach makes, I am sure it's a great job. Fran probably makes 6x what Chesney does. I would take the $ and roll the dice. Both Fran and EROB can make more than Chesney does as a position coach in the SEC.
The money is the money, no ignoring that. Syracuse is the better job in such a fickle profession. You take the $ and if it doesn't work out you have more $ in your pocket when you take the next job.
If Chesney was sitting at Holy Cross and had the BC/ JMU HC jobs on the table, everybody knows what job he is taking. It's not even close. You take the 3 mil or so over the 550K and if it doesn't work you move on to the next job

Mora and Schiano are the biggest beneficiary of this.

It's an interesting thought but don't see Robinson doing that this late in the game to Fran. EROB knows he is 1 maybe 2 solid years as a D Coordinator from getting a HC job but this day in age anything is possible

Thankfully we found a coach that thrives in this system. It’s funny seeing millionaire coaches that have done everything they can to further their career, including turning your back on the team you recruited well into the spring semester and work outs, cry that the athletes have a little bit of power and control. A lot of these guys really prefer a plantation system.

The “he’s leaving for a B1G job in 2 years” posts are long gone. He was disappointing at BC, no way to see it otherwise. This last year he saved off from getting fired at a school who does not want to fire anyone which is something. Recruiting was supposed to work as he is so good w people and the media, but it didn’t.
Running off for the NFL at a very bad time to leave a school is rough. I’m sure the players are not happy.
All in all. Terrific hire, BC.

I had the pleasure of meeting Fran last week. He’s a unique man and we’re lucky to have him. He’s a great asset and really wants to make a difference in people’s lives.
His ability to connect with folks is real and authentic. And he identifies recruiters the same way. Also met Coach Redd. Same thing. These guys are expert networkers and relationship builders. It’s a totally different approach. And honestly it’s perfect for the current game. We need NIL of course but nobody’s out working Fran. And this challenge is nothing compared to the rest of his life.

Seems like half the small super fan base wanted him fired. The other half forgot they played football.
Not surprised he left the way he did based on his performance. He coached scared.
Could be an opportunity to grab a good o lineman, BC is usually pretty good in that area.

The biggest impact he had was prying some kids away from Rutgers, Temple, and UConn.
We didn't go head to head with them for many kids.
Depending on who they hire, this will push BC farther down in the prep schools on Connecticut and Massachusetts, and now with Fran getting involved there, they will fall behind us.
This schools elite prospects are still going to be ND, Michigan, Penn State, SEC heavy, but there will now be an opening for Cuse and Rutgers
BC will now be battling UConn for the mid to lower tier prospects from those programs.
