might be this kid Solarte. The jury may be still out on Tanaka despite his seemingly hittable pitches which according to early reports was kind of the opposite of what we have seen.Solarte is clearly a plus for the Yankees and they didn't need to spend a fortune to add him to the team. Itdid cost the Nunez. I do like Nunez's speed but that is in all likelihood gone.

Tanaka: 7 IP, 6 H, 2 ER's, 8 K's, 0 walks. Tanaka retired 13 of last 14, and one who reached should have been an error.

Only one Yankee pitcher in last 100 years had more K's in his MLB debut than Tanaka ... Hideki Irabu had 9 in 1997.

Michael Pineda: 6 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K. Retired 13 of last 14. Was throwing at 95 mph.

BTW ... Jesus Montero is bouncing around the Seattle minor league system, and Hector Noesi was just released.

Don't forget Jose Campos who they also got in that trade. Yankees are putting together a pretty good young pitching staff.
