but it's within sight.

Standard disclaimer that the upcoming meat grinder could crush these numbers but...

For the corner to be turned either the pass game has to be more efficient instead of being driven by number of attempts, not that there's anything wrong with the number of throws right now, its just not as decisive an advantage as it can/will be in the future, or improvement in the run game. Those will be mutually reinforcing so improvement in one will raise the other.

The take away is that the trends are all positive and the staff has done a great job recovering from where the program was heading in the last two years under Shafer. It wasn't a Grobian crater, but the decisive action taken saved the program from those depths again.

We're getting there. At least now I can watch a game and see improvements all around, especially on defense.
Dino's getting his guys in here and in fairly short order, we'll become a legit threat to the big boys.
I want the Clempsun's, FSU's, VT's et al, to dread their trips to the Dome, and leave Syracuse knowing they were in a dog fight!
Thats just for starters.;)

It can't be overstated how true this is. The recruiting was awful under Shafer. The 2013 class gave us Estime. The 2014 class yielded some nice players - Bennett, Franklin, Ish, Phillips, Slayton. The 2015 class gave us Dungey and not much else. And off the top of my head, at least four Shafer commits are now playing FCS ball (Gianetti, Guidice, Dunkelberger, Mack). Can't build a strong program if you miss on so many guys.

2012 is the bench mark for corner turning.

Here are the offensive profiles for each coach in the 2000's.

There's still plenty of improvement to be made, but all signs point up.

It’s a shame that year didn’t yield more W’s. They were good enough to win a couple more...
Yep considering how many 8 win seasons this program has had since 2001 its such a terrible underperformance

To be fair, the scheduling and conference affiliation has changed substantially since pre-2001. We wound up on the good side of the power conference split, we just need our talent to reflect a P5 team.

Relax. That was a great team and marone and co. Deserve credit for the Herculean effort needed to get us to that level. I think the point was more that if everything broke right that team could have won 10. Not b/c marone was at fault but because that's sometimes how these things go.

If we are talking about the need to eliminate mistakes, that's a good sign because it means we can win if we do that. It means we are competing well.

Pugh was hurt and missed several games. Tough early season schedule. Refs seemingly determined to screw us at Cincy. Tough, tough late hit call on NW’s game winning drive in a game we lost by 1. We laid an egg at Rutgers.

Yup. Lots of factors. So close to being a 10-11 win season.

Our rushing offense is BETTER than last year?? Well i'll be dipped in schitt...
but but but...but the tampa 2! it can't work in college!!!

It was unquestionably a great season. But like yesterday’s game - the stats suggest more success.

It is what is. Hopefully we can have a few in row starting really soon ;)

I just can't believe we're at the halfway mark of the season. 7 more weeks and it's another 8 month wait.

That's why college football is my favorite sport, because there are such a precious few glorious CFB Saturdays in a calendar year. It always leaves you wanting more.

We will more than turn the corner once we get a running game. Unbelievable how much a running threat opens up your whole playbook.
