Happy 17 year (!) anniversary to the greatest game of all time

If memory serves me correctly, the next night they played West Virginia and that game went into one or two OT's. By the time they got to the championship game against L'ville everything caught up to them in the second half, but what a heckuva of a tourney it was. Was so proud of that group.

Had a friend who worked at the university and got me one of the shirts that came up. I still have that shirt, although not in the best shape .

That Spring through the summer, I was committed and lost about 35 to 40lbs. Wish I had that type of commitment today with anything.

I believe that team went to the sweet 16 too. Just think, back then we thought of that as pretty ho hum.

I finally retired my shirt to the work shirt bin. It got so faded from wearing it, I had no choice.

I like Bill Rafferty's story on how when he got bact to his hotel room and called his wife and when she asked him where he's been, he said the game went 6 OTs. She said yeah right. Where were you really.

My now wife then fiancée was in the middle of her Internal Medicine residency where she would work 30 hour shifts (they're currently illegal, now the max is 16 hours). She was sleeping after one of those marathons the night of this game, and I kept running around our apartment like a madman screaming "4 OTs!" "5 OTs!" "6 OTs is this happening?! Am I dreaming?!" I got an earful the next day.
