Hard to take much out of the game

On O:

- Fredericks looked good. Rhode Island had something to do with that. However he looked better than Morris, so comparing the two of them is fair. I think the playing time should go to Fredericks and McFarlane going forward.

- We saw very little of the passing game. So we have no clue if it will be fixed. And it will be even harder to tell with a true frosh at QB.

- Hunt's biggest asset was turning a 10 yard loss from a sack into a 5 yard gain from a scramble. Our sacks went up after his injury last year. I liked that Dungey showed an ability to scramble.

-Hard to tell much on Dungey. He made some good throws but also had bad ones. He had happy feet as well. But those are expected for a true frosh QB in game 1. I don't expect him to be doing these things halfway through the season. Also remember that Long looked great his first game then didn't play well again the rest of the season.

- I don't get Lewis at XB. Every other play at that position was a HS RB. He has nothing in common with them. He is a better fit at WR. Especially if Cornelius doesn't start catching the ball.

- I may be exaggerating a bit but it felt like we ran the naked boot 6 times with one completion for 6 yards and 6 hits on the QB. I don't like the play in general even if we get a chip on the DE to prevent the QB hits. At best you get a 5 yard gain to the TE.

- I hope we don't run the sweeps very often. We didn't run it well vs Rhode Island with the first team. IMO it will not work in the ACC. Sure every now and then you will get 20 yards on the play but the other times you run it you are lucky to get back to the LOS. I hope we don't run it a lot. The best thing about the play is the threat of the play more than the play itself. It helps open up runs up the middle, and can be used in play fakes. It should be used but it shouldn't be used often.

- I wonder if we have a goaline O. We did have a 1st and goal from the 5 but that is still far enough away to run your base O. The question is do we go shotgun inside the 5?

- After we settled down we didn't have any penalties which is a great thing. I did notice that it appeared like our guys in motion were moving forward a few times on the snap. It is not likely to be called, but I am sure we will have an ACC road game where we get the good ole boy treatment.

The D:

- We looked very fast on D. However I thought we looked very small outside of the DTs. We will look like boys vs LSU. The good thing is that in today's game speed is more important than size. I only see it being an issue against teams we cannot beat, plus Pitt and BC.

STs:

- We returned a punt for a TD!!!

- We did have some mistakes too. The opening KO was an oh no, yes moment. We had a badly missed FG. And kickoffs going out of bounds is never acceptable.

Non Football stuff:

- The orange pants looked nice on TV. In person I thought they were a different shade than the jerseys and helmets.

- I swear our speakers get worse every year. And the volume is always too loud. At one point we had our band mic'd and it was too close to the band. It sounded awful. The worst part was that we were in the huddle on O. Were we trying to make it harder on the team? Another time we had some random song playing while on O. Music should rarely be played at a college game and NEVER when the game is going on.
