Harold Brantley is now visiting Missouri this weekend.

Missouri has not gotten a kid from this part of the country in many years.. strange to get one now.

You have got to be kidding me. He is without a doubt one of our top five kids. He has been committed forever. We are melting down at the end of recruiting season just like we melted during the regular season. I hope to gosh that Doug can keep these guys in the fold. Also why do we always wait until the weather blows to bring our committed recruits in? Dam Owens i can deal with but not this kid as he is a monster. me!!
I think he might be the gem of this class. Amazing athlete for a kid that size and he has the chance to grow. I think he is a must get to me.

ESPN has him as almost the lowest rated kid in our class. he commits 8-9 months ago and is forgotten. why out of the blue start looking around and taking a visit to a place that never recruits in the area. i hope he is great either way..

word has probably finally gotten out that syracuse canned both their DLine coach and LB coach. Is it a coincidence that all these kids play those positions ?
Follow the logic. Word gets out on the internet (including here) through leaks, recruits find out, start taking 0ther visits... Marrone brings down the iron curtain on the program and no one knows anything any more.

Hasn't Brian Kelly pretty much replaced his entire staff at ND?

Hasn't that kind of change pretty common in the college game these days?

Brantley, along with some of the others that are being poached, will be a true test for Marrone's and his staff's ability to lock up players. I think it all works itself out one way or another.

Your last sentence there is brilliant!

So how many recruits committed to other schools are visiting Syracuse this weekend? Or how many recruits in general are visiting Syracuse this weekend? Oh that's right, none.

Everytime I log on to the computer there is bad news. I give up.

it would be a good weekend to host guys, too, as the basketball team is hosting West Virginia.

This hasn't happened before under HCDM, we are understaffed now and others are moving in as their A list gets sorted out. It's about communications and connectivity.

He has relatives near Mizzo & they have a very highly regared communications school which he's very interested in.

we are understaffed now

Nobody to blame but himself on that front. Don't care what anybody says, no reason for not announcing someone unless they're coaching in the Super Bowl. And I highly doubt that to be the case.

people also should know just because we dont have coaches announced does not mean they have been hired and on the job before we find out about it.

This is the reason he is looking at his options. The person he spoke with the most at Syracuse is no longer there.

Seems to go along with alot of the rumors we have heard about general disorganization around recruiting. It seemed that they were shoring that up, but it takes time I guess. At least they are getting offers out to current juniors and are making contact with sophomores.

What rumors? "Alot?" Egad.
Alot may be an overstatement but a couple of examples - waiting to offer kids, not having correct information when visiting a prospect's school . . . it's been discussed here and on the previous board a number of times. I also said it seems to be getting better and it takes time.

Hate to point out the obvious during the meltdown but him visiting does not mean A) he has a Mizzou offer or B) he will get a Mizzou offer or C) if offered he will flip.

Lots of ?'s about Brantleys Mizzou visit to which we don't have the answers.

A PA kid going to Mizzou, to play in the SEC just doesn't add up to me. If Mizzou went to the Big Ten I'd be a bit more concerned honestly.

Waiting to offer does not seem to be disorganization, it seems to be SOP for this staff. They have to get some level of evaluation done before they are comfortable offering. That was more a function of the sheer amount of stuff they had to deal with when they took over the program. Things have certainly got back to "normal" with regard to earlier evaluations and the ability to offer the top prospects when they are juniors, after building a relationship for a couple years.

As for the Moore story, I am not sure what to believe there. I'm kind of skeptical of any news that comes out of NJ at present.

according to the article he wanted to see one other school as su was his only visit. I think we will keep him. As to the assistant coach thing with Doug there is no good reason not to announce and have these working for you if they have been hired if not i have no idea what the hang up would be other than guys passing on offers. Also i remember when Jim hired a young guy who had just gotten married who i believe was in Hawaii at the time. Someone named Pitino who recruited his way across the us coming to Syracuse. One other point why is it that when a coach leaves Jim he has a replacement named in about a ny second but DM takes forever?

FWIW, According to the Mizzou tos site Brantley has no offer.
Also it seems as if some have severe short term memory loss. Remember Rob Trudo..soft verbal who took every official possible, currently playing for SU?? What 18 year old wouldn't want to see what else is out there if given the opportunity. Doesn't mean that the choice will turn out to be appealing.
