John Feinstein had I believe Seth Davis on his show and they were discussing a rule change in college basketball in regards to calling charges (I believe there would be less charges). Feinstein said he agreed with the rule change and that if it was in effect last year, Syracuse might have been in the Championship game. I turned it on in the middle of the conversation, so I didn't fully get it down. Does anyone else have more clarity on this rule?

You need to be set before the offensive player begins the motion up to start shooting or something. I assume he's referring to the play with Brandon at the end, which i'm pretty sure was clearly a charge, but i haven't seen it in 6 months and I dont think i want to see it again

Well it was only a charge if its OK for the defender to get into position and get set up after the offensive player has left the ground. What really sucked about that call was Brandon was purposley moving toward the baseline not the basket (to avoid contact) and the defender made no attempt to DEFEND his shot or the basket. The defender ran to a spot and tried to take a charge. This type of non defense erks me to no end. Its not holding your position and playing strong nor is it contesting the shot or defending the rim. Its p*ssy is what it is and I hope they remove it from the game.

The fact that those refs made 3-4 HORRENDOUS one-sided calls all in the final minutes of a Final 4 game, and are still allowed to ref at all is unacceptable. calls ruined our chances. Complete garbage.

And GFY for bringing those horrible nightmares back. ;)

That is what he was referring to and it was not a clear charge or block in my opinion. The call could have gone either way...sadly there were 3 calls like that in the end of that game and they all went against us. The block call on MCW was terrible missed call that even the announcers said was bad.

That's the thing that bugs me too. You play defense against the offensive player. You don't play defense against a spot on the floor.
