Have fun, ladies and gentlemen

We never averaged 18k. It's not like us.

Yeah if you are a die hard and your new HC who is promising National Titles is in year two, how the hell do you only average 19,800 per game? Heck that was only 10 years ago. I understand that RU sucked hard under Shea but look at their home schedule. They had a legit shot at 4 Ws out of 6 games. They had Nova, who going into the year a die hard would think is a W. They had UB, who they beat on the road the year before. So a die hard had to think W there. They had Army who was bad the year prior. Plus RU beat Navy, a similar team the year before. WV there was no reason to go especially after the 80-7 loss the year prior (yes 80-7). They had Miami and you go just to see Miami, even if just for a half. They were defending National Champs after all. Finally they ended with Temple, who they lost to easily the year before but it is Temple. A die hard has to think they have a good shot there. So with the prospect of 4 Ws and seeing the defending Champs they averaged under 20k for the year. Plus everyone knows half the fun of CFB is tailgating anyway. So an RU die hard had no excuse not to show up in 2002.

Heck RU didn't break 30k until 2004. And 2006 was the first time they ever averaged over 35k!!!! Their 2005 season was similar to our 2007 season in that both schools stunk for awhile and finally got to a Bowl. Yes their stink was longer and smellier. But we complained about our 40k while they were fist pumping and gloating about their 33k. We haven't been that low since Archbold. That was 7 years ago for them. Last year they only averaged 43,750 including the "full" student section. That fact that they expanded that stadium is a joke.

Yet we are drawing over 50,000 fans for our home games and will draw another capacity crowd this Saturday in our expanded stadium. I was able to sell my two extra tickets for face($50/each) in 5 minutes for the UConn game. Seems like there is more then a "very few die hard Rutgers fans" who are coming out for our games...

What is SU's attendence been?

Still look like Bama?

We have went thru 8 years of hell and we had 40k Friday night. We have never averaged 20k. Your school regularly did. That's the difference. I live in NJ, there are a few die hards and a ton of bandwagon jumpers but there's no real deep roots to the team. If Rutgers falls back to the late 90s, attendance will fall to where it's been for most of your history. Syracuse athletics is engrained in CNY and surrounding areas. Just Not the case in Jerz. Completely different feel.

So true. My friend from work has lived in Hoboken her entire life. She went up to Syracuse the weekend before the season started and was amazed that everyone around town wore SU gear. It wasn't even a game weekend and it was SU this and SU that. That doesn't happen in Jersey.

Talk about a lack of understanding football history.

32 championships to 5, one fo them a mythical national championship awarded I don’t know how many years after the fact or by who, because there were no national championships in 1959. Sounds to me like a whole bunch of sour grapes from a fan base of sore losers who don’t know anything about our history. We suffered for over 20 years from an administration that could care less about athletics and funded all our programs like 1AA’s at best. Then when we finally start to get good again, all we get is a bunch of jerks from Syracuse who want to harp on that 20 years now that we’re skull-dragging your sorry program on a fairly regular basis.
We’ve played more football games than your program ever will, and we’ll be ahead in wins in no time.

The "Middle Three Conference" was a 'Conference' consisting of Rutgers, Lehigh, and Lafayette...

While we were winning the National Championship they were beating Lehigh and Lafayette.

You gotta respect that 1965 3-6 conference title team

Come on bees. 32 IS more than 5...

One national title > beating Lehigh and Lafayette 32 times.

bs---we all saw the uconn crowd and the upper deck ---don't lose your marginal credibilty with that statement---you are starting the waiting list smoke and mirros game again---you related to shady?

I like this one:
"Rutgers: Winning season all but one season since 2005 "

Maryland will work for football. Tougher than Rutgers for a weekend getaway, but doable. Highly unlikely I ever make to Maryland for a basketball game. BC isn't worthwhile for a hoops trip, and wouldn't be able to do it unless it was a Saturday. Awful atmosphere anyway. Discouraged by the fact the BC football game, it seems, will be played every year the day after Thanksgiving. Tough turnaround when we spend every Thanksgiving in Jersey with family. Pitt? Never been. Would like to do it for football, but again, crappy atmosphere. Not worth the trip for hoops.

I wish the BC football game would be scheduled for another weekend. But it's not my call.

I think you have to separate football and basketball. For hoops moving to the ACC is a hit for those of us in the tri-state area, in terms of having access to local games. Between UConn, St. John's, Seton Hall, Rutgers and the BET there was a good 3-4+ games a year right in our "backyard". Probably only downside to moving to the ACC is losing that.

Football is a totally different story though. Since the BEFC formed we have always only had 3-4 regional games. In the 90s it was Pitt, Temple, BC and Rutgers. In the New Big East that became Pitt, UConn and Rutgers. In the ACC that'll be Pitt, BC and Maryland. There's just not a huge difference (unless you pine for Temple).
