Correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't he have easily taken a better angle and just shoved the MD player out of bounds instead of making this strange diving leap for his legs?

He may not have been able to catch him with a better angle. Not hating on hunt but i'm sure the other guy was faster.

i saw it as a gallant effort. tripped up likely's ankles but he danced thru it. most dudes would likely have gone down.

Hunt is not fast. It can be hard to believe, since he is pretty successful running the ball, but he is not fast. He is quick, and big, and has really good vision working with blockers, but he is not fast. Understanding that makes sense of the fact that he wasn't able to stop that pick 6.
