I'm basing this on one season, and one season does not make a trend. But. . .
It looks like the schism many predicted when the football-driven realignment occurred may be happening.
The Big East was mediocre this year. The A-10 was bad. The AAC was decent, and good coaches at Houston and Cincinnati, plus the Penny experiment at Memphis might lead to long term competitiveness at those programs.
And the corollary to this is the scraping the bottom of the barrel of power conferences to fill the bracket--Oklahoma in, TCU, NCSt, Clemson all strongly considered. Watering down of the product.
Depresses me a bit. Or maybe it's just the early exit that has me blue.
