HCSS walked out of post game conference

Based in what was in Twitter, he was asked if he planned to talk to Coyle about getting an unsportsmanlike penalty and other embarrassing moments.
Shafer's response...

It's like never you hear someone ask a coach if they're going to talk to their boss about embarrassing moments.

No it's been all season long. The Syracuse "press" is a joke.

They both could use a fresh start. Media has made a few gaffes that would tick any staff off. And Shafer hasn't been great with them either.

Ok, I just watched the post game press conference. It was a bad question. Shafer had addressed it already in his opening comments. I think Bailey asked the question and the way he worded it was terrible.

Also, Shafer didn't storm out. He was annoyed at the question, but more mocked Bailey than anything else.

Well I gotta say, this thread has turned out better and odder than I expected.

Learned quite a lot.

- On the OP, now I know why you guys don't like this axe kid .
- the SS SS, has likely sunk, but a few are still sitting their staterooms calling the front desk and are pissed they can't get room service
- bees is going down with the ship, even if he has 1 eye on the lifeboat line
- the PACuses are here and active. Not sure yet if we can reach a buckingham/nicks level of success, but if they can add a little diversity ala the godchaux Dead decade, this could be interesting
- I do want to have a drink with them, likely just the 1, but I promise to make sure they stop liking each other's posts and to find out if they're posting from the same computer/iPad and logging each other off?? same couch?? same room??
- I think a pro may join SS after the BC game, sort of like the NYY's zillo or mets horowitz

This is just a bad situation getting worse by the day. I feel for Shafer and do like him as a person, but...

Someone once asked on another thread which was worse; anger or apathy. I am reaching apathy.

-The PACuses. I kinda like that.
-Am I the one that gets the drink?
-Once the novelty wears off, I'm sure I'll stop giving a crap what he posts :)
-Different computers, different rooms, same time, occasionally similar thoughts.

Despite the seemingly obvious exhaustive "liking each others post" Mr. PACuse did guide me to Syracuse and created a fan. So there's that.

Not sure why you mention my name. I've barely mentioned him staying or going.

That is my point.

But you have to think.

Sorry for that

O79 said as a mod, u likely won't pick a side.

So I insinuated...

No side = going down with the ship in people's eyes, even if u want off.

Damnit bees I'm the drunk one watching the Knicks/Rangers keep up will ya??!!

Pressed was fine. Shader did fine. He was annoyed with Bailey's question (which he answered), shook his head and said nice question, nice job again Stephen.

The "SS SS"

LOL!

It's really not often that you see a coach get an unsportsmanlike 2 games in a row.
Bo Pelini - a guy a lot of people here loved the last time we were looking for a coach - got two unsportsmanlikes in a single game last week.

It doesn't happen often, but it does happen.

The real crime is that Syracuse has Bud Poliquin and Brent Axe as their sports writers. It's one thing to not be biased but these tools and the post standard in general have gone down the road of whoring out for all of the negative commentary. Syracuse.com is unreadable, it's a trainwreck. And I have absolutely no doubt that some of the people that comment there post here. It's a real goddamn tragedy.

The orders to take negative angles comes from the editors, too. And Axe and Bud seem to relish taking those marching orders and running with them.

I gotta say this PaCuse I have disagreed with you about SS but the fact your wife is charged up enough to join and give her opinion mad props to the two of you.

That is good stuff. Sadly my GF is a Nittany Lions alum.

GTFOOH. You have a girlfriend?

Makes me appreciate JB pressers even more.

Yep. The only time JB stormed out of his presser (at least to my recollection), was when he flung the chair after being fired up about Michael Graham throwing a punch at (Andre Hawkins?). And that was awesome.

Edit: JB once said, "premature anything is bad." I made my post above prematurely, before reading this whole thread and realizing Axe miscategorized what Shafer did at the presser. But yeah, JB tossing the chair was pretty awesome.

Yeah, well he's nuts. So that doesn't surprise me.

If we hire another defensive guy, my head will shake until it falls off and creates an impact tremor.

Number one it certainly is not God, and number 2 you are completely right concerning the prior. I look at these two writers as complete pariah. They are like sharks who get mad when access is limited as it is in places, even more. I love your heart coach shafer, most of these people were simply not good enough for you. Also wonder why Boeheim feels the way he does about the PS. May we all grow in character. I still hope he is here. I could write volumes. People have no idea what was left here after marrone left, not to mention a completely new staff for the most part. No money either. There were only a couple pieces missing. People have no idea.

Why not lay it out instead of assertions if you could write volumes?

Time, nor desire to discuss drivel with people who are primarily interested in wins and losses. I want to win as well however I see things as much more important yet not mutually exclusive of each other. A byproduct shall we say. Most people have no idea. An alum as well as a parent.

As an FSU grad/fan I suppose I shouldn't have a dog in this fight (but was born in NYC) - I saw a video of most of the press conference and it didn't look "bad" to me - as they say in the Deep South someone is "making a mountain out of a molehill". Shafer is personally likable but the performance on the field is lacking - plenty of injuries the past two years however. Glad I am not Mark Coyle (although Floyd Little and the Chancellor will have their say). "Should he stay or should he go?" to paraphrase that song from the 1980s. Would the current staff gain enough experience, have players back from injuries, and enough new recruits to turn the corner next year? Acosta and some of the assistant coaches have done what they could under the circumstances. If you make a change I would seriously look at Bo Pelini - he has operated at the highest coaching level, his players like him, and he is a tough guy - liking cats notwithstanding. The ACC hasn't filed their 2014 tax returns yet - IRS gives "nonprofits" 11 months of grace to do so while most of us have to file by April 15th - but I feel sure that the ACC per team payout will be about $10 million MORE than last year because of CFB playoff and Orange Bowl money so the $ to make a change will be there if that is the final decision.

Bo Pellini likes cats ? Nice , that makes him seem less scary.
