Not trying to sound like a dick when I say this… but why on gods green earth would u have McDonald over sparrow at this point? Genuine question.
We actually played this formation quite a bit on Saturday with Reese and McDonald. Whether you call it a bear front , a 3-4, a 5-2 with 2 stand up LB “ends” (jacks) etc. not sure I was a fan of it, but it is what McDonald seems to be best at.That would be a 3-4 and depending on the role, McDonald could be a better fit. I think he would be fine as a SOLB, right on the LOS. No way would he be a WOLB or an ILB.
That said, you cannot play McDonald and Reese in a 3-4 IMO. They wouldn’t really fit.
It was most effective vs the run. 11 was not good in base.We actually played this formation quite a bit on Saturday with Reese and McDonald. I’d play that 3-4 on base downs and sub McDonald out on passing downs. I think priority one is get the run defense settledAnd it took Reese away from what he does best. I don’t think you can have both in at the same time.
Tank was in in OT. Perry was doing a very good job of getting penetration thoughTank got hurt and didn't return correct? Glad Jacques came back in. He looked like he was hurt pretty bad buck came back in. I was also disappointed David O missed tackles on two open field sack opportunities. One just before the end of the half and one to start the second half.
Tank returned and made a big tackle for a loss/ no gain on a stretch run play. So he wasn’t just back in as a body.Tank got hurt and didn't return correct? Glad Jacques came back in. Returned and rode Edwards out of bounds like a circus pony.Tank returned and made a big tackle for a loss/ no gain on a stretch run play. So he wasn’t just back in as a body.
Maybe he rests for a week out of precaution, but I’m not concerned about his health going forward.
Old bama d 5-2or 3-4 whichever u like to call it. we would be great against run. i would play tht against BC. Tough if they run spread though.DL - Jobity, Perry, Rooks
LB - Reese, AD, Bryant, McDonald
DB - Peal, Duce, Grant, Samuel
I really like Perry. Tough SOBTank was in in OT. Perry was doing a very good job of getting penetration though
Or Sparrow.I do not like McDonald, he has legit gotten worse each year. Give me Tremble.
We did this to try to neutralize their stretch zone a bit by having more quicker players in the gaps at LOS. I’m not sure we will see this alignment much going forward (depending on who we play). Yukon is very good at that particular play, so I was ok with it this timeAnd it took Reese away from what he does best. I don’t think you can have both in at the same time.
They aren’t good at either. Stop the run, then worry about the pass. Obviously you aren’t going to do that vs a spread team basing 4 wide, but that nickel base has been poor.Old bama d 5-2or 3-4 whichever u like to call it. we would be great against run. i would play tht against BC. Sparrow is mediocre at best but I’ll take him over McDonald any dayOr Sparrow.
That’s what she saidTank was in in OT. Perry was doing a very good job of getting penetration though
