Here is what people are missing about Fab and Dion in the NBA

IMO, Dion Waiters is not a first round NBA draft pick, not now, not next year. Orange colored glassed will do that.
I agree at least about this year. The main reasons are that he is not a good shooter and he has not shown that he can play solid PG which is the only place he can play in the NBA. Also, he has not shown he can do the things he has been good at against good competition on a consistent basis.

A good college player who is fun to watch, but not NBA caliber yet.

guys with Waiters' skill set are a dime a dozen in the NBA. If SU continues to play at a high level and stays in the top 5 all the way into March, he will benefit from that glow and somebody will take him in the late 1st or in the 2nd round

After beating up on Depaul and Seton Hall, Melo's stock is high right now. If the draft were held this week, Melo would go between 10 and 20. He's 7 feet, is a good shot blocker, and can finish around the rim. But, he doesn't rebound well for his size and he is still not a good offensive player - he can stick the occasional mid range jumper, but most of his points come from put backs. He drops a lot of passes that should be easy buckets. If he wants to maintain or improve his position, he will have to keep playing defense at this high level and also improve his rebounding and offensive deficiencies.
Fab would be a perfect fit with the Spurs!
actually, I think Waiters is exactly the kind of guy that Popovich usually takes in the late 1st or 2nd round - Pop would maximize his talents for a couple of years off the bench (plus Pop and JB are friends, so he would have all the background info as well)

Agree with most of your post except this. He seems to have pretty good hands...cannot remember alot of drops from him...maybe you are thinking Keita?

he dropped at least 4 very catchable passes in the DePaul game alone - turnovers that were credited to Waiters, Joseph and Triche and a couple of others that ended up being recovered by the Orange and converted by someone else.

I think Dion finishes with his left hand better than most guys and he also finishes through contact better than most guys both will boost his draft stock. I also believe while this is a deep draft most of the top guys play the 2, 3, 4 which will help Dion and Fab since they project at 1 and the 5 respectfully. Truthfully the Spurs are a premier organization I would love for any of our players to end up there.

There is no doubt that Fab and Dion both have the talent to play in the NBA. I am willing to bet they will both be drafted higher than Kris Joseph if all 3 enter the draft this year. The extremely talented college players usually do not play longer than 2 seasons in college. Fab and Dion fall into that category. If we make a deep run into April and win the Championship, their draft stock will be extremely high and they are likely gone.

We will still have MCW, Christmas and Coleman for next year. They are all likely NBA players as well. We have a good chance at landing Anya or Noels in 2o13. Melo leaving improves our chances at getting one or both of those kids. It is unlikely the Seton Hall's of the world will be feeling sorry for us if Fab and Dion bolt this year.
