There is a concern with the lack of emotion and fire coming out of the gates lately, especially yesterday. They need a couple players (Scoop and KJo) to come out and play balls to the wall from the opening tip. They lead, the others will follow.
Having said that, there is an air of confidence that this is a favorable matchup for us and all will be well in Orangenation tomorrow.

someone needs to get Dion to actually work tomorrow - maybe get an agent to tell him that the scouts are watching - I'm not sure how you make him work on defense or for loose balls, but something along those lines

that being said - K State is certainly a team they should beat based on talent

Unfortunately, despite whatever feeling is coming from the team, we still have to, you know, play the game.
Oh, the team will play the game alright. Whether the play well, now that's the great unknown.

Yes and it would be better if the coaches weren't confident at all.

I hope so but I'm expecting another ugly low scoring slugfest. Hopefully they will surprise all of us and blow out Rambo and his soldiers.

Think our offense gets going tomorrow, this is a team we can turn over to get out in transition and run our offense since we shouldn't see much, if any zone against us.

I'm not sure, Bees, that either KJo or Scoop have that type of emotional and fire-breathing temperament. That is nothing against either one of them or a criticism of their respective talents; it's just about emotional makeup. I think the kind of firebrand, take-no-prisoners intensity will have to come from another player. My guess that it will be Dion, or possibly a mystery man, like MCW, if he gets floor time. However, I agree with your assessment: we need someone to step up with a blaze in his gut.

i would much rather we get better as we go than look amazing and put out a crapper. i like that things could go chalk... i agree the offense could get unwound tomorrow .. rak i think will play even better .

Actually, I think that's a bad thing. The worst thing, in fact. This is far from a favorable matchup and it's just that kind of overconfidence that I've been saying would be our eventual downfall.

The players need to understand that they have their work cut out for them. This is going to be a dogfight...and K-State's pretty darn mean.

Exactly! There is an intensity that some players inherently have. Dion is one of them and I think MCW is another. Other players can show it from time to time but it usually has to be coaxed out of them. Boeheim can (and has in the past) provided the spark with some full-court press. No matter who or where it comes from, we need to have it because you can bet your sweet ass that KSU is gonna bring it, as well as any teams beyond the 3rd round.

bro, bees said the team is confident and will win which means it will happen

I'll be sure to let the coaches know your opinion. They didn't say it was a sure win. Their confidence stems from styles. KSU plays man and doesn't shoot it well. There is a world of difference between confidence and cockiness. They are confident.

You have a good read on this squad Bees. How confident are you in an SU win tomorrow? 80/20 proposition?

Are you just talking about the coaches or the players as well? If you're just talking about the coaches, that's different.

My original post was from a coaches standpoint.

Just make sure their /c #21 is theonly player that has a big game - one player alone is not gonna beat us unless we miss all our 3's again

I also feel that K-State is a good match up for us. Their rebounding strength is a farce really. They aren't a great shooting team, they don't play zone and they are turnover prone.
