Here's how it is

whoa...it isnt intensity i am worried about but the seemingly lack of effort by Scoop on defense of 3 pt shooting; on KJ rebounding. There is a wide difference between intensity and effort...Scoop's shrug and smile when someone hits a 3 pt shot that he doesnt even wave at or KJ's non chalant dribble off his leg or Triche's lack of emotion on the outside-- these are what we have to change
It is Dion's swagger, MCW pounding his fist...that is a start. Not a nervous smile that tries to hide a poor effort or seeming sulking when a Triche shot doesnt go in.
We have the players to win...just need them to add a little heart to their mind set and go for it. I wonder if JB's mostly lack of emotion is the reason why?

Brandon isn't an outwardly emotional kid and I don't expect that to change. I think Scoop smiles for the same reason McNabb smiles. It's just his way to deal with pressure.

I am more concerned about our jacking up too many balls from behind the arc, and specifically which guys taking too many 3 pointers. In the last 3 games, James and Dion have been very respectable although both had 1 for 5 games in that stretch. Sccop has been 3 for 8, which isn't terrible although he too had a 1 for 4 game. Triche has been a putrid 1 for 10 and Kris has been a sucky 2 for 13. These guys CAN make 3's but they are hurting us by over-shooting when things aren't falling for them

I also feel that K-State is a good match up for us. Their rebounding strength is a farce really. They aren't a great shooting team, they don't play zone and they are turnover prone.

They only turned it over 11 times the last time they played Missouri.

Who says they won't play zone?

they did for 2 possessions and they saw why they don't. coaches nailed this one and why it was a favorable matchup for us.

Were the coaches not confident about UNC-A?
Honestly, they weren't thrilled. We weren't a strong one and they felt UNC-Ashville was more like a 13 -14 than a 16. Still they felt they would win. I know there is some concern about playing a non-traditional power. I think for the most part our coaches would like to avoid mid-major programs and would rather play big names schools, especially in early rounds (kids self motivate). The rest of the way, its about matchups. I do know that they wanted to avoid duke and were hoping Missouri was going to be the two seed in our region. There was also immediate concern about Vandy when the brackets were announced. So I'm 99% sure they're happy to avoid Vandy.

Something to keep in mind about bigger programs - they do what they do, mid majors tend to do whatever they think works. In other words, Missouri was not going to adjust style of play to play us - mid majors spend the entire OOC schedule, using different defenses et al. Mid majors tend to be able to adjust on the fly, where bigger programs only play one style because they have better players.
