hey just don't ask K any of these inappropriate questions

Anyone on here complaining about the response or the answer has never been on the receiving end of one of JAB's tirades. I have, as a high school AND a college student. Again as a local reporter after college. A student journalist IS a journalist.

If he treats a journalist like this he should treat a student journalist like this. Student journalists can be sued for libel and are expected to understand the legalities and ethics of the profession. So when he steps into a postgame presser, his treatment should be the same as any other journalist. It would be doing him a disservice if he were treated differently.

That's one reason I respected JAB. He may treat you like an a&& hole, but he treated everyone like that. Man, some of you either really dislike K, or are shrinking violets who would sniffle and cry if someone hurt your little feelings.

What K did wasn't so bad.
He never sounded nasty.
He could have just said something like, "We're still dealing with this one and not thinking ahead yet." And that might have sounded even worse.
K even apologized to the student and he didn't have to... given what he said.

If anyone does think this was an egregious offense...you shoulda been there back in the John Thompson days.

Oh, and the student's question was pretty weak.
Not offensive.
Just weak.
Like most sports interviews.

I was just re-watching the 1992 Royal Rumble and I was reminded of Coach K.

In the ending moments, Hulk Hogan "the Real American", "the Good Guy who did no wrong", was justifiably thrown out of the ring by Sid Justice. All within the rules in a winner takes all match. Hogan then decided to be a crybaby and pulled Justice out of the ring screwing his chances.

Hulk Hogan, "the American Hero" was just a poor sport. Of course most of the dumb humanoids still don't realize that Hogan was a sore loser, and they still cheered for Hogan afterwards.

The moral of the story. Don't be a dumb humanoid. Coach K revels in being the anointed one when things go great. But when the going gets tough he is just a sore loser and is really a villain.

Most star studded royal rumble of all time.
It was in Albany, NY I was there and your right.
Hogan was the bad guy poor sport and helped the bad guy win and Sid had to go heel.

Good analogy.
It’s not fair to Coach K!!!!

Would love for the kid to pull a Costanza - Jerkstore moment and go back at him, saying "If thousands of people cared about my economics exam, and I was paid millions of dollars to take the exam, then I would answer any question posed to me about the exam."
But he wasn’t asking about the exam which is what K is saying.

it’s dumb he had to apologize for answering a question.

Well, it took the heat off JB's dogsh!t performance tonight, because the postgame is all Duke and K.

I can't believe the K thing is a thing. We're such an odd society, dying to talk about anything in the negative.

Ummm. You know wrestling is fake right?

I don't think Coach K's answer was that bad, it was just kind of patronizing. In the days before social media it would have been forgotten about within 5 minutes of happening. I don't think it's a great look for a HoF coach in dealing with a student reporter but it wasn't that bad.

Nothing terrible about the response. JB is faaar more thin skinned and lashes out way worse.
And hasn't ever apologized to a student reporter after the fact that I'm aware of.

I wish a reporter would call a coach out for bs like this. Professionalism should be reciprocal.

lol mccaffery prob biggest dbag around
Even though Iowa is one of my secondary favorite teams, I can't argue that Fran doesn't handle it very well when things go bad. It's really not just a JB thing

yeah Fran is one of the sorest losers I've seen in a coach

I really am completely unbothered by someone who cacross an @ $ $ hole in their work/school life. Deal with it, just about all of us do every day.

Here’s a good rule of thumb, see an @ $ $ * in the morning? Well, you saw an @ $ $ *.

See them all day? Well, you’re probably the @ $ $ *.

K was in a bad mood and the kid asked a question that pushed a button. A public apology was really unnecessary, but hey, that’s probably what his agent, publicist, AD, maybe wife and probably dog told him to do.
