Some casual thoughts after giving the replay a gander. - not a lot of complaints with the performance but we easily could have given up 2 or 3 more in the first half. They were getting some steps on our short sticks. You can see how they put up goals against weaker opponents. Some solid speed and dodging ability in the top 6. Clamped down well in the second half though. I worry about Olexos stamina down the stretch with having him both on the wing and covering a teams fastest attack. -Spallina the “wrap around” shot is obviously fun to watch and lethal against anyone remotely undersized who lets him get to 5x5, but it’s the feeding ability that will be his long term money maker against even the best opponents. There’s dodging with your head up, and then there is what he does. He never takes his eyes off the action above the cage. Was sizing up his man behind the cage and threw a beautiful long pass into cordez off an offball pick. Was coming above gle and threw a pass in tight to Kirst who had an inch of space on his man and scored. Could have had an insane btb assist to Birtwistle who again only had an inch of space on his man but the shot didn’t get through. -You look at how shellenberger got his points against ND. He is a boatload faster than Spallina, but got his numbers in a similar fashion, drawing a little attention and throwing in beautiful passes to guys who get just a little space offball up front, even if he didn’t get any true separation from Chris Fake. Spallinas feeding ability is already reaching that level. Hiltz is better off the dodge and has the better outside shot, but Spallina is right there with him as a feeder already. - Cohen sees time against lesser opponents and torches them at a level just as lethal as our starters. Think it’s high time we sent him out there against ACC ssdms. He is shifty skilled and confident as hell. Has some of that same feeding ability as well.
