This is snowballing into some pretty weird stuff, the climate is hypersensitive after what happened at Penn State, and Cantor and JB have never seen eye-to-eye--she's not an advocate.

The lone thing I've believed would "save" JB was that he had no knowledge of Fine's peculiarities. I still believe that to be the case, but given this new pile of circumstantial evidence, that alibi seems flimsier than ever.

Hope I'm wrong, but I don't think Boeheim is safe.

He's as good as gone, and I think it happens sooner rather than later. Pre-EMU game.

When all the details come out, everyone will wonder how far JB had his head in the sand to not know any of this stuff was going on under his nose. He will be suspended and then eventually fired, imo.

I don't see it. Are we going to fire a coach of 35 years for saying some in sensitive things. One of which was correct. lang is a liar. He either lied in '05 or in '11. He has said he was sorry. The victim has accepted that. We should as well.

From a pure basketball perspective (which isn't really the primary issue, of course, but bear with me) it would make the most sense to get it done today, and at least let Hop get his feet wet with EMU before Florida on Friday.

And from a practical standpoint, it should probably happen today, if it's going to happen.

Hard to say when the worst of this will come out or if it already has. If everybody can catch their breath it may die down enough for him to stay. The new stuff if true is very troubling and seems to have been "common knowledge" to some extent.

A bit extreme...the administration just needs to stay level headed as they appear to be thus far. At this point, as much as it sucks publically, there have been no arrests, so it's a bit premature in regards to anything relative to JB.

I guess JB should have taken his own advice as when he playfully said a couple seasons back, premature anything is not good...or something along those lines. :bat:

It shouldn't happen at all. Not unless there is evidence that JB willfully tried to cover for Fine's pedophilia. There is no evidence of that. Matter of fact the evidence points to JB being unaware of Bernie's penchant for underage boys. Any other sexual habits of the Fines and their adult partners, however kinky, should have no bearing on the decision as to keep JB or terminate him.

Now is the time for Nancy Cantor and the BoT to act like adults and do the right thing, not the most expeditious thing.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think a JB firing SHOULD happen at all but if they do act, I think it will be quick seeing that the admins have acted quickly all along. I also think they know more than we do right now, or atleast know what my more connected alter-ego, Cusefan78, posted about this morning. With all of the info they have, I am just betting that they do the deed today or tomorrow.

I sure hope I am way, way wrong. It will be the darkest day in our basketball's history, if true.

I've been extremely critical of JB's initial reaction (calling the accusers liars, etc.) but I also think it would be reactionary to fire him.

He had an emotional reaction in defense of his friend with the best information he had at the time. It was insensitive, impulsive and not well thought out, but it was understandable.

If a more thorough investigation uncovers that he knew more and should have done more, that's a separate situation, but as of now I think he needs to make a sincere apology and the BoT/Cantor need to give this some time.

The Laurie Fine stuff is incredibly gross and weird, but I bet JB was in the dark on this too. And if he was, how can you hold him accountable? Obviously this will continue to play out, but media pressure with the current facts shouldn't be the thing that sinks him.

People here should do themselves a favor and stay away from the mainstream sports media for the time being. There are many uniformed people out there overreacting because of the PSU scandal. The university needs to stand pat for now and take the deep breath that everyone else needs but can't seem to take.

Yup, you have a whole lot of people that saw readership sky rocket after Penn State and they want another spike. This is their chance. Unless something else comes out Syracuse just needs to keep playing it smart - all the statements have been great. If they keep it up they should weather the storm. Firing him would just make things look a lot worse - like everyone knew.

At some point it's going to go from being a defense to being an idictment of JB, not sure if we're there yet, but we're getting close with the revelation about players sleeping with Laurie Fine.

The basis for firing Boeheim isn't about what he'd said. That is secondary.

The primary question is how could all this be happening to his program (especially by his long-term "loyal" assistant) directly under his nose without him knowing anything about it?

Exactly. Well stated, and succinctly too.

we can't do anything right. the SEC rolls out welcome committies of beauty queens. we roll out an old busted bus driver looking hag

So, now we are assuming JB had some kind of knowledge? Davis seemed to think he probably didn't know anything.

What's really surprising is how effective it seems to have been, recruiting has been at an all time high recently.

What? What did I miss overnight? Players sleeping with Laurie Fine? Geez, I would think our star athletes could get some better a$$ than that...

I hope that's not true. really, really do.

It really comes down to if JB knew about it or not. And by IT I mean BF and kids under 18. Players sleeping with his BFs wife will just plain gross is not illegal. If the BOT fires JB it will be because he knew about the BF and boys stuff. If they believe he had no clue then they can not fire him for some stupid comment he made in the press or they would have fired him a long time ago.

If they didn't know they need to stand strong and stand together. If they fire JB it will also look like a cover up from SU and that everyone knew about. If it is true they didn't know about it then they can not let the media pressure bury them.

JB has stated he didn't know. Davis stated that JB didn't know.
