I was thinking the same thing, but the relatively large field in the Oaks makes it a tougher single. In The Derby I’ll be playing Journalism to falter with 5-6 longer shots including Final Gambit, American Promise, Luxor Cafe and East AvenueI don't know if anyone is going to beat Good Cheer, but there are good numbers on the board. I was liking Quietside but probably not a good shot being outside of Good Cheer.
My first inclination is to go heavy with Good Cheer in the Oaks/Derby DD combo.
I think the key will be to try and find value , so I bet Good Cheer with four horses (1,3,8,21) in the Oaks/Derby Double. But here is what the NYRA guys say. I think the earlier races including with Fierceness and Thorpedo Anna will tell a lot.For those that know what they're talking about who ya got in the Oaks today?
Good Cheer is undefeated and will be heavily favored, but she isn't really much faster on the numbers than many of the others in there. I will try to beat her with Simply Joking, Ballerina d'Oro and La Cara. For those that know what they're talking about who ya got in the Oaks today?
Wife made me toss cash on Sandman simply because our son is heading to Virginia Tech in the fall...sandman getting out of the dreaded 17 hole. but still wearing the 17. does that break the jinx?
