Houston hires Dana Holgorsen

What lot of success?

He got fired his last two jobs in the NFL. He had the worst defense in D1 over his four years here His defense at Michigan was awful

He won a national title at Texas, but Vince Young had a lot to do with it.

GRob was an epic disaster as a hire. Great guy by all accounts but he has never been a good coordinator.

It could be argued that GERG got RichRod fired, orchestrating the worst defense in Michigan history in 2010...

Actually richrod did it to himself by forcing the use of the 4-2-5 in the big10.

I think it has more to do with the lack to talent coming back at WVU and the fans boosters are ready for a new direction. He knows that he cannot meet their expectations there with the returning talent. Part of that is on him and the lack of recruiting. Their QBs he has for next year are not all that great. Serviceable maybe but not going to put up pinball numbers by any means.

Huge step down as much as we like to poke fun at the hillbillies its a good job

It's a big program... not sure it's a good job tho...

The hillbillies are never happy and have delusions of grandeur that they are a perennial CFP team that consistently 's up due to poor coaching and never reaches their deserved prominence.

I think someone put it well earlier... it's a "thankless" job...

How many coaches haven’t been fired? He won 2 Super Bowls as DC. Had to have a little to do with it. He had two successful stunts at Texas. The second one he was credited with turning their season around. And at Michigan he had to use the 4-2-5 which anyone that knows football is really stupid in the big10.

Fair point, but throw in GERG's worst Michigan defense ever in their history, and they collectively shat the bed together.

Great history great fans I would rather live in Houston but the wvu job is better.

The 4-2-5 will never be successful in the big10 where it’s all about power and size. That was richrods call along with his buddy Austin who was his dB coach at wvu and Michigan.

That and he was just never a mich guy. He just didn't fit the Ann arbor culture.

Was that the game where the refs screwed Miami at the end?

And yet most WVU fans are hoping it happens. It’s interesting to me. WVU fans just about always blame coaches for losses, not players. Iowa State (unprepared) and Oklahoma State (unprepared and horrible defensive game calls) and even Oklahoma (Defensive Coordinator) losses were blamed on coaches.

I’ve asked— who would WVU get that’s going to do better? They don’t care. Coaching there is kind of a thankless task.
Uh...have you seen our basketball board lately????

It's official Dana Holgorsen is the next Houston head football coach!!!

The early lead amongst Eers fans for his replacement appear to be Cincy's Luke Fickell and Troy's Neal Brown.

I'd take a flyer on Brown myself, but Fickell would be nice as well.

Cheers,
Neil
