How Dino Babers will build Syracuse's new offense on the Baylor model

On 1/1/2013 I said that Montgomery should be the hire.
Hey Go, you've always been on the Montgomery bandwagon and I appreciate that. You've probably said this many times elsewhere, but are you on the side that thinks Dino can be as successful with bringing Briles offense to SU as you thought Montgomery would? I know Phil worked in the Baylor scheme for longer and was OC, as opposed to Dino who was there only 3 years and was the WR coach. Just curious what you think?

He's done it two other stops so far.

Good basis to hope so.

Very impressive search. I gave Go a three year old like on that one. Incidentally, if your magic search powers find any of the opposite - basically stupid predictions from yours truly that I know are out there, no need to bring those back from the syracusefan.com history vault :)

Better than being the last to abandon ship on the SS Shafer. "All is well".

Agreed. Much rather be so concerned with being right that I dig up my past posts to prove myself than having hope that a good guy figures it out.

Lots of egg on my face.

Being a fan is more important than being right. Don't take yourself too seriously.

I will put myself on the record that I will never criticize when he goes for it on 4th down. I'm sure it might seem crazy at times, but I'm ready for some fun!

Indeed, Smithers amuse me, constant punting has dulled my once keen interest in feeble strategic football, Release The Hounds!! Excellent... Excellent!

3:25 mark. And then watch the next two plays after as well. Oh baby.

There is a moment after one of the early Bowling Green TD drives where the Tennessee defense looks like it wants to talk trash but doesn't have the breath.

Also, I saw the article in today's paper on this offense being better suited to Austin Wilson because he is more of a pocket passer. From this game tape looks like a mobile QB is a big benefit, probably five or more designed QB runs in that game.

I love the scaredy-cat meathead announcer when asked if they're really going to go for it: "No waaaay - just trying to get them to jump here. End up maybe taking a timeout...*trails off with incoherent old-school 70's football babble*..."

Then after the play he picks his jaw off the floor and credits Babers for having the "courage" to go for it. Is it courage? Or is it intelligence and a grasp of simple probability? Maybe both.

That part was hilarious. Going for it on 4th down deep in his own territory was an option the announcer didn't think possible. It just isn't done! Then he was stunned when they got the first down. Babers is going to be one fun coach; win or lose.
