Their job is to focus on basketball, but the whole ordeal and the need for info (like the rest of us) has to be on their mind. Wonder how coaches are approaching the mindset aspect in practice. Can't just ignore it. Has to have some effect, especially the deeper it gets, and now with BF gone. Let's hope players can stick to business in games. Perhaps this will actually focus them more.

If you ever wanted to foster the "us against the world" mentality that sports teams seem to relish, well this would do it. Road trips are going to be vicious.

Given the severity of the crimes I would be surprised to see students spewing jokes and ridicule comments to the team. I would think the host schools would not want that virus now attached somehow by lowering themselves to insults.

They've been fine the last three games (Yes, we have played three games since this story broke and Bernie got put on leave). Don't think it will be much different going forward. Actually, it might even be better -- now that some decisions have been made and they know for sure that Bernie will never be back.

Ive played sports my whole life, granted not at the at the ultra high level these guy do, but for me, this wouldnt bother me at all. One you get on that court it all just fades away.

In some ways I think the players are fortunate to have a vehicle to focus on...I think its far worse for the coaching staff and the others around the program.

+1 This is so true. They'll be fine, err ok I mean.

Its not that hard. ITs like JB says you come and play basketball for 21/2 every day.

Actually it could be more of a plus.
A Job- Buisness Mentality could actually fire this team up.

Tend to agree with this; there are some areas that are taboo and you just don't go there. Who knows what the next bizarre turn to the story is...but I could see a PR mess for a school with students that come up with banners/chants/comments related to this.

We're not talking about stealing laptops here, or cheating on your wife...this is way, way, way more serious. I doubt Baylor had to deal with fans giving them crap about the murder and attempted cover-up...there are some things even college students know to let go.

WHAT CRIMES??? People need to come to grips with this first. Just another Internet shat storm until someone proves something. You are just spreading rumors at this point!

I don't think the players will mourn the loss of Mr. Fine. Will it be a bit weird? Certainly, but they will adjust and life will go on. And contrary to the popular belief, Bernie was not that great at developing the big men. And that's not even addressing the little men...
