Honestly looking at our schedule the rest of the way, its hard for me to find more than 4 losses, and even thats a stretch. If we go 14-4 in the big east thats at least a 2 seed, and possibly a 1. Assuming we split the 4 games with lville and uconn, look at the rest of our road schedule.

depaul
providence
nova
notre dame
cincy
st johns
rutgers

what game are we losing? nova and notre dame would normally be very tough road games, but theyre both down big time this year. depaul? providence? st johns? rutgers? please. they'll be more cuse fans in half of our road schedule anyway. maybe cincy could be tough.

home schedule is a little tougher with seton hall, marquette, pitt, wvu and gtown. i still have a hard time coming up with 2 other losses besides lville and uconn. we got a break with having a tougher home schedule than road schedule.

i see 15-3, losing at lville, at uconn, and home to marquette. 1 seed in the tourny. then a cakewalk to the final 4 :D

and to answer my own question, the way we dont get at least a 2 seed is by going 1-3 or god forbid 0-4 against uconn and lville.

A lot can happen between now and March/ April. It's never good to count chickens before they hatch. The outcome of any Big East game is never certain. Over the many years of watching I can't count the number of times that the team that looked certain to win a game didn't. That having been said, I think that Syracuse has as good a shot as anyone at being a #1 seed from what we've seen so far this year.

Keep stealin' and dealin' and let the seeds fall where they may.-VBOF

P.S.: When do we catch Bob Knight as a commentator on a Cuse game? If he loved the 2009-10 team, he's going to go banannas over this year's version.:)

Hey remember when Pitt came into the dome and sucked? Wes Johnson Rautins and AO were gonna beat that ass.

How about Seton Hall in the dome last season? That was a good one.

And sure this Cuse team sucked but REALLY?

I am thinking a road loss to both
Louisville and Uconn are possible and then maybe one other inexplicable loss. Like you I can't really find more than 2 or 3 losses.
Of course that is if we stay healthy and the injuries to Triche and Waiters are not serious.

We aren't even to the 2012 part of the 2011-2012 seaosn.

We're not losing one game. We'll get the number 1 overall seed, then win the title.

We aren't going to lose at home to Marquette. That's ridiculous to think. It's not like they kept their whole team from last year.

They lost Butler and Buycks. We lost Jackson. Pretty even trade. Butler was a better player than Rick, but Rick was more valuable to his team.

Otule's hurt too. They don't scare me, and they shouldn't scare our team. We win by 15 going away. It's not like they blew us out last year.

5 losses or less gets us a 1 seed.

2 losses or less gets us the top #1 seed.

We are due to beat Louisville, & we have the team that can do it. I think this is our time.

I am watching how this team has talent to knife into thick, jungle like coverage & come out the other side with a basket. We simply have too much skill to lose more than 5 games this season, & I think losing even 4 games would require these players to willingly give a few away for kicks...

I think you are being even a bit too cautious.

This team has overall talent & Basketball IQ that is head & shoulders above EVERYONE. Considering all players stay healthy, this squad has a shot to run away with a national Championship like UNLV did in '90.

Every other top team relies on 1 or 2 superstars to keep them in the tough games against equal competition. Syracuse doesn't need that with at least 10 guys who can pick up the slack when other players are lagging. The odds are always in the 'Cuse's favor when they face adversity in a game.

They might lose a couple of those battles, but they are playing with house money this year...

Let's not get carried away. We have not played the best team yet or even the best from our conference. Beyond Ville and UConn, we could easily drop ones to MU and Gtown, not to mention the annual What games we always seem destined to have.

As for the NC run, I would say UNC, OSU, and KY can (not should) beat us. There are others including kansas, Missouri, FL (I know we beat them once but at home), UNLV, IU, and others who we could lose to on any given day.

This team is good and may end up great. Let's not make then out to be the old UNLV type team just yet.

The delusion ever ceases to amaze.

I'll take that bet!

UConn proved last year its not the seed that matters as much as what you do with it.

Having this conversation is ok on Christmas as long as we know everyone has been drinking the eggnog.

IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING!!!!!

That needs to be a sign at the Dome, preferably in the student section so the playrs can see it. Mottos make for memorable seasons, ("40 for 60", "We are Family!")

I vaguely remember Butler killing us in at least one of the games.

That should be a fun game, but at this point I don't think they are the type of team that can beat this Syracuse team. UConn and Louisville and (probably) Pitt are going to make our lives miserable though.

I think some folks were asking this last year around this time.

There's a still a ton of hoops to be played.

I understand the caution, but you have to admit, this team has a different feel than the past 'CUSE teams. In addition, The competition out there has weaknesses that Syracuse is fully capable of exploiting. There is not one other team who is more daunting & seemingly dominant. The ingredients are right for a good run, & possible Championship. This team could be like the UNC team that smoked Mich. State in the Title Game a few years ago.

Hmm...well..one way to not get a one or a two seed is to lose a bunch of games beween now and march. Im not sure if anyone else has any ideas...excluding a frank disqualification from the tourney. Every year we get off to these hot starts and every year someone posts something like this and NEARLY every year some weird happens...and even in the years when weird doesnt happen, other does.
