How does Bell go from 40% to less than 25%

Coaching what? Coaching him to be a worst shooter such that they successfully blew up in one off-season the lifetime of muscle memory he built up? How does one actually coach that? I WANT TO KNOW THE DRILLS THAT TAKE A 40% SHOOTER ON VOLUME TO LESS THAN 25%

No attention to detail. There is a difference between getting shots up and working tirelessly on your fundamentals. His footwork is awful and he isn’t on balance his form looks awful (compared to last year) That is from taking quality reps and doing the same things over and over again.

I repeat. Gmac. A good shooting coach. Look how far all these guys have fallen off from their shooting last year under different coaches.

If he shot it a tiny bit better than last year I can assure you he was getting drafted. I know this for a fact. But that’s not happening now
He shot 42% from 3 last year, can’t defend, rebound, dribble or play defense. How on earth can you say if he shot 45% from 3 this year he would DEFINITELY have been drafted?

I get it, even the field of 68 guys said coming into this year he was the best shooter in the country. You can tell Bell reads the press clippings. Maybe he bought into his own hype.

But he still can’t even stay in front of guys from Albany - even if you guaranteed an NBA team he’d shoot 50% from 3 in the league, he’d give points back in so many other places.

Too many guys are good shooters now, you have to do something else well too. The kid doesn’t even compete

Chris Bell said it himself in interviews. He definitely bought into the hype. This team lacks the work hard one day at a time mentality. It's all platitudes and no plan.

I don’t care what the reason is. That’s his problem to solve.

What I know as a fan is that he’s become a terrible shooter and is still an all around below average player.

Autry trusting him to the the #2 on this team has blown up in his face. Just another terrible decision.

I do give Red credit for benching him. What I don’t understand is Freeman’s usage and JC and EL over usage

I doubt anyone truly understands it and Autry can’t explain it.

It cracks me up that we went from “this team is 11 deep!” to not even having 5 capable starters. And that’s with 1 guy injured.

To me it all starts with Lampkin. Jyare is dominating and should be getting 35 mpg. Freeman should be next to him. I’d give Moore the ball and run Taylor and bell at 2-3. Eddie seems like a great guy but I’m not sure he even understands they are keeping score in the game

Funny thing about Lampkin is that he’s only 0.8 PPG and 0.4 RPG off his performance at Colorado last year. He’s also doing better on assists and blocks (believe it or not).

He’s kinda the guy he was. Maybe they expected him to take a leap, but that would be another poor evaluation by this staff. Guy’s in his 5th year, he is what he is.

Autry’s usage of him is all over the map. Maybe that’s because of his conditioning/injuries. But his production is what they should have been expecting.

I'm looking at our three point shooting numbers.

Choppa is our sharp shooter at 33% which is still pretty medicore.
Donnie 32%
Starling 29%
Bell 24%
Carlos 21%
Davis 14%
Taylor 7%

As a general rule of thumb re: Lucas, when your three point shooting percentage is roughly the same as current 30-year mortgage rates, it's a problem.

Cuffe's sample size is very small, but he's at 50%.

This has to be our worst three point shooting team since 1990.

Gmac. Almost all our transfers are shooting worse than at their former schools from 3. Often when a shooter can’t find their shot, it’s because of their feet and sometimes their shoulders. I suspect we have nobody that can help with those elements. And after awhile it does affect your confidence.
If he watches tapes and breaks down good shooting games vs not he should be able to quickly see if it is set up or simply a confidence issue.

We also got Lampkin specifically for offense to open up shots for our shooters. We went out of our way on offense and now we can’t shoot and can’t defend. Seems like a bad plan

Seriously. It must have been a very late round. I've never seen it. Thought he make a nice living off shore but no way is he NBA

Coaching
It happens. It's in his head. It's tough to coach a good shooter out of a slump. They need to play their way out of it. One thought is the to explain to him that his shot making is secondary to his playing time. Challenge him to excel in other aspects of the game. Namely great D and rebounding. Tell him he has a green light and isn't coming out
AS LONG as he is playing great D and rebounding. Take the focus off his shooting and create other goals.

It's obvious
Dry Rub
Donnie
Davis
Bell
Moore.

Or

Carlos

Or

Those are the combinations.

Well, Bronny got drafted. I do think Bell’s family connections have gotten him a lot of opportunities. Like starting 70+ games as a one dimensional SF from being a freshman onward. IMO, he’s either being discounted or subsidized NIL-wise which opens up payroll flexibility for Red AND he has/had an elite stroke, which made him an attractive gamble to become better in college. But even JAB said he didn’t rebound in HS and he didn’t expect him to rebound in college or something to that effect. He’s a replacement level SF in college and probably wouldn’t start on any other ACC team. Kind of like any other player who has recently transferred from SU excepting JG3.

Who else has fallen off?

All of them.

Bell from 42% to 23%
JJ from 32% to 29%
Carlos 34% to 21%
Taylor from 35% to 8%
Davis from 26% to 14%

Well Cuffe has gone from 40% to 50% in 5mpg.

It needs to be understood how impressively bad this trend line is.

Maybe it's the new blue seats? Everyone's depth perception is off?

You don't have home/road/neutral splits handy, do you?
