How does Syracuse stay with Pitt next week?

I want to know how Pitt is going to stay with us. They're 4 and 4. They struggle moving the ball, and they aren't all that good defensively.

Give CD-RW a good prep week and we'll come out firing. That'll open things up for Tucker. In White and Jones we trust on defense.

We're panther hunting.
They struggle moving the ball but they matchup well with us. They have a big line, an absolute stud at RB, and we struggle to stop the run. We have to score early and often and force them to throw the ball.

Given how limited Shrader was and we stuck with that for a half, I would say the potential was not there this week.
I'm confused. You mention CDRW's passing and Hatcher's emergence as positives but then say we didn't see that potential this week. Those seem like conflicting comments to me since this is the most we've seen them play.

Hatcher flashed potential, but I wouldn't say he emerged. 2 catches for 26 yards isn't really an emergence. The potential was there when he nearly made that circus catch in bounds along the side line and then got open deep later but dropped the pass. When he doesn't let the DB push him too tight to the sideline, makes those deep catches, and becomes a reliable target, I'll say he's emerged. The potential was there this week. How long will it take for that to evolve into production? Do we see it this year? Does it take until next? I hope it's next week. We need another threat to open things up for Gadsden and back the defenses off the LOS.

They have a huge line and an excellent RB. Better RB than any that ND had today. Pitt has a better QB as well, albeit a low bar to what ND has. They are simply going to gameplan to run Abanikanda 30+ times. Not a good matchup, obviously.

Syracuse is going to need to score at least 30. Whether it’s GS at 75% or CDRW, not sure we have enough.
last time i checked pitt isnt nd or clemson

Ah, gotcha, I misinterpreted what you said. I thought you meant the potential was there with how we came into Notre Dame yesterday with a beat up Shrader and without Hatcher showing some more playmaking ability.

We actually are in agreement I think.

Haven’t won at Pittsburgh in over 20 years and the way we are looking it doesn’t seem likely we will stop the streak this season.

Kids got to catch the ball.

In fairness, before ND we said ND wasn’t Clemson and I would argue they outmuscled us more than Clemson
i never said that, i knew nd was a bad matchup

Just pointing out what most of the board said and I agree, I was nervous for ND. I’m worried about the big plays by the Pitt RB, he’s going to get stopped which we couldn’t do against ND but he’s quick and he can make some plays if we miss some tackles with our tired guys. So they aren’t ND but they also don’t need to be to win the game.

we should be able to move the ball on them regularly

Play the healthy QB! Get more RB’s involved on O!
On D keep fresh kegs in the DL positions; currently we don’t have the size to take on big physical OL’s for the entire game if they( their OL are healthy) are healthy! Improve clock management by making plays for different senerious.

Still a chance for the ACC title. Small chance but still! Im sure they play there hearts out! If not then the injury’s have taken there toll and a low end bowl game is where we end up this year

The defense is not the problem. It‘s done more than enough the last two weeks to win.

the issue is the offense, that’s it. And it’s not just scoring it’s moving the ball, eating clock, winning field postion.

Exactly. I don't know how any one can look at the defense the last two weeks and think that's why we lost. The defense had nothing to do with 14 of ND's points. And the defense at Clemson was so "bad" all we needed was one good 2nd half drive and we likely win that game.

we had 2 Ints and a blocked punt and also a like 15-20 yd punt for 4 of the ND scoring drives.. You have to pick your poison and we went too late to sell out for the run.. Sad part is we actually in pretty good position on alot of the running plays but 1-3 turned into 4-6 too often. Our LBs play small as well when in power spots and that doesnt help. We had 2 chances to get into the game.. after the pick we did nothing and cutting it to 7 we threw another pick..

But ND was a bigger bully cause they went to 3 TEs , it was like watching a game from the 40s.
