Actually, I think that year showed how valuable K is.

Before he went out Duke was 9-3.
Losses to UConn, Iowa and Clemson.
Wins over Michigan and Illinois.
Then under Pete Gaudet they were 4-15...with 8 of the losses by 5 or fewer points.
I always thought having K on the bench would have meant a winning season.
Because they did have talent: Jeff Capel, Trajon Langdon, Cherokee Parks, and young players in Wojo and Doug Collins.

That's got to be it.

Are agreeing with me or being sarcastic. It just doesn't seem possilble all this talent would accumulate in one school because of issues around playing time. You would think playing time would be a big factor in any player's decision. Calipari looks great on paper but when I watch him coach he seems about average as any other D1 coach.
