How is Baylor not ranked #2 before today?

Someone please explain what I am missing.

A couple of posters seem to think that Baylor deserves to be #1. What? Yes, they do seem like a good athletic team with depth. No doubt. HOWEVER, what makes their crop of wins more impressive than ours? They have TWO wins vs ranked teams and both wins were by 2 points. It's impressive to win on the road no matter what, but give me a break. Lets calm down here.

I'll explain. If you look at it objectively, @KSU (probably one of the 5 toughest atmospheres), @BYU, @Northwestern are better than our road wins.

Ok. So it's all about having to play on the road in an atmosphere with good fans ... not whether the team was all that good or not. And it doesn't matter that you only won by a bucket. Interesting.

As Ed Cooley said about Syracuse, "

The ranked teams are just part of it. There's more to a schedule than just the ranked teams. They haven't been impressive against the good teams, but they killed the crap on their schedule, which is 90% of who they've played.

That's a reason to be #1? Killing the crap on your schedule and barely scraping by ranked teams? Really?

No, I'm with you! I think their winning by 40 against the bad teams and barely scraping by any ranked teams hasn't proven them to be #1, but they have talent to be a mainstay in the top 5 this year.

I've been saying for years that if we went out of the family to replace JB, I'd want Scott Drew. I've actually been saying that since he coached Valpo against us about 10 years ago. We won, obviously, but I was so impressed with how his guys executed that I thought if he ever got some athletes, he'd win a title or two. He is just a phenomenal coach, and he has a loaded team this year.

Jekelish, I'm not convinced he's a good X's and O's coach, but he's one of the best recruiters out there and talent can win. See Kentucky and Calipari.

I'd rather win a little less with a guy like Drew than a little more with a guy like Calipari. And I would also take Coach Hop over both of them for this program.

The idea of Hopkins and Autry (and Herm Harried or Rosie Bouie) for the next 25 years is what makes Syracuse great. Compare that to Calipari and Orlando Antigua? Woof.

I'm sure Drew's great for Baylor, but I couldn't be happier with these "I bleed Orange" guys we've got on our staff. Boeheim's got his (few) failings, but I couldn't pick a better group of coaches for our team.

The only quibble I have with this is that I already think they are a serious contender. If they win on Monday, they'll probably deserve to be #1.

They NEVER replace an undefeated #1.

As I was saying... Baylor is not nearly as good as anyone in this thread tried to make them out to be. Claiming that they could understand if they get 1st place votes is ridiculous.

...KU blitzes Baylor...it was at KU but none the less...18 pt loss is not a resume builder for Baylor... nope, they arent #2
