How long of a leash will Hunt have this year?

Leash comment is going a little overboard. Hunt is no dog. I could see the coaches keeping a dog on a leash.

Wilson has made nice strides with getting stronger, but that doesn't mean a whole lot at QB. He is really ungood at reading coverages and the coaches would have a hard time trusting him with the ball.

At this point, I don't think they're overly worried about Dungey's redshirt. If they need another person to step up for Hunt, my money will be on him.
I hope they keep Dungey in the booth with Lester this year

Yes would be nice, but that's not going to happen IMO. He will be next man up by Week 3 if not already. The more snaps he gets, the more and more he will improve and feel comfortable running the show.

QB #1 - 50.7% completion, 2344 yards, 6.8 yds/att, 14 TD, 11 INT, 114.8 rating.
QB #2 - 59.8%, 2615, 6.3, 11, 12, 115.3.

QB#1 was moved to TE and replaced by a walk-on. QB #2 by many opinions will start every game with no challengers. I truly hope Hunt can do it. I just cant forget that he threw 3 TD and 10 INT in 10 games against BCS level schools in 2013. And 0 TD and another 4 INTs in 2014. He did not throw a TD against a BCS team until Nov 23rd in the 10th game of the 2013 season. Does anyone really think the leash is still that long? I hope not. Does 75 yards rushing and 2 rushing TD's in a bowl game really buy that much job security?

My historical experience with true Frosh QB's tells me otherwise, but I hope we do not even need to use anyone but Hunt unless we are blowing someone out. We can dream.

You left off QB #2's running numbers.

And QB#3 who throws INT, QB#4 who is small and injury prone, and QB#5 who just got to campus 2 months ago.

Right now there is no one better than Hunt, IMO. Maybe that changes as Dungey gets reps in practice, I don't know.

I think the team can still start 3 - 1 with Hunt performing badly.

Badly enough to warrant losing his job?

And honestly, maybe for URI, but not for Wake, IMHO. Our D is weaker than last year and we are going to need to score points. Not sure how we're doing that without at least barely competent QB play.

If Hunt is really bad to start, we are probably out of the bowl...hunt...early. Is it then worth it to burn Dungey's RS? He's the only one I'd be really interested to see. We know a decent amount about Wilson, and I'd rather RS Long and let him get back to 100%.

Since 2013, games started by:
Hunt: 8-7 (5 BCS wins)
Everyone else: 2-8* (1 BCS win)

Throwing motion, deep balls, accuracy, bleh. Give me wins.

*1 win was when Hunt took over in the 1st quarter to score 51 straight points

5 wins against BCS opponents. I think the "Hunt is a winner" crowd stretches things a bit. Your point that Allen, Long, Wilson, and Kimble haven't won is fair.

Perfect illustration of QB getting too much credit and too much blame. QB is the most important position on the team. Fact is, Hunt has played 13 games against BCS competition. In 11 of those games he has failed to throw a TD pass (the team was actually able to win a few of those). There is no doubt Hunt is the best option to start but I just don't think he has done enough to guarantee he continues to start if he is not significantly better than he has been in the past.

Dungey is very smart......talented with the right confident attitude. He knew the playbook by the time practice started with some questions, resolved in 1st week of practice. Throw a defense at him and he gets the offense set correctly and calls the correct play. 5th sense when it comes to reading blitz. Accurate, short medium long passes. Might be cloudy now but with him the sun will shine. Staff is wowed by his learning curve...soaks it up analyzes and files it for future reference. Mind works at 5x speed of another smart QB, Nassib.
