I have mixed feelings about all the bootlegs, quick slants, play action fakes, etc. We don't run up the gut enough to consistently trick opposing safeties with our bootlegs and play action.
On the one hand, I love how the staff is protecting Nassib, creating time, and minimizing our struggles at Center. The quick slants to Lemon are a nice wrinkle to the offense. Nassib is very solid on the play action sell, and he looks very poised on the move.
On the other hand, hahaha, it's a pretty goofy offense we are running, and teams with serious speed on the edge are going to sniff out our bootlegs like on Tecmo Bowl. Nothing puts stress on opposing safeties like a 3-step drop timing route, like a "Bang 8."
At some point, we need to establish Nassib in the pocket It would be great to develop some timing routes with Chew. Vanzago is a pretty special weapon for us.
So what is the over/under on 3-or-5-step-drop completions in the pocket today? So far I count zero, I'd put the over/under at 2.5.
