How many times this season do we score over 100?

I agree that defense may make or break this season. But how did Freeman make a big leap this summer? Because he said at media day that he knows he needs to be better at it? And it’s not that Kiyan isn’t interested in defending, he is slow footed. He tries to play defense, foot speed just a bit slow right now.
All I can tell you is, I saw him make a couple weak side blocks, and he was hustling his ass off on defense all practice long.

He looked way more interested in playing defense than last year. Much more aware and physical.

To answer the question… I’m going with 2 but with a 2 more 90+ points. This team will feast on cupcakes because 5 to 10 is so good.

They had 17 turnovers and about 10 of them were completely unforced.

Kyle running into Starling when they were the only guys on their half of the court is exactly the type of turnover they had frequently yesterday.

They also missed 5 uncontested layups.

I was surprised the pace was so low, Syracuse only attempted 52 shots. It felt like more. The press didn't seem to increase the pace of the game, and it didn't force turnovers.

I'm actually encouraged that they'll be able to fix the sloppiness on offense, and start making layups, and they'll achieve their hundred point goal against the worst teams that they play.

The pace issue is one that they'll have to solve, but part of that is that Red was subbing guys in like this was the first day of practice and not like it was a televised game.

He did tighten down the rotation when Buffalo got a bunch of threes late, and the starters quickly restored order.

Full game rotations aren't going to include Nait George getting 17 minutes on the bench.

The offense will be fine.

They won by 10 and didn’t give up 70. Yep defense was the problem.
What can I say…I’m going to be skeptical about the defense until we play a good team. They seemed to let up when the lead started to grow. This has happened for several years now. I’m looking forward to being proven wrong when the real season begins.

NARRATOR: Niastri, ever the optimist, proved to be wrong on several of his predictions.

since we don't hit our freethrows it's a good thing we can corral a few caroms. otherwise this was a loss.

and it only took us 2 OT's to get there.

Yeah, when I was spouting off about 6 games reaching the century, I was expecting 4 in regulation and then a couple random games like last night, where the OT period is critical to us going over 100.

My other thoughts were aberrational games where opponent foul trouble or extremely hot 3 pt shooting drives us over 100.

I am still waiting for a random game where we go 20-35 from 3, or 35-42 from FT. Though last night we did get that many attempts, we missed 40% to hold us back...

But it was nice to win last night.
