I was interested to see how facilities effected recruiting, and ultimately wins. I thought the B1G was a good place to start since thanks to the B1G network they now have the largest share of $$ coming in. I don't think it's a coincidence that every year prior to 2014 they finished dead last in conference recruiting rankings. In 2015 they finished 4th (slightly behind B12), but this year they are currently in 2nd, and by a wide margin. At first I thought it could have been the Urban Meyer effect. He wasn't shy about voicing how the B1G needed to recruit better as a whole if they wanted to catch up with the rest of the country. Then I looked at the standings where they currently have 11 schools in Skot's top 40, and almost all of them have recently had massive facilities upgrades or will in the near future, plus in the case of Michigan, and Penn St were able to spend a ton on a new HC. Still schools like Iowa, Michigan, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Ohio St (small renovation to already elite facilty) all have made huge facility upgrades in the past 2 years, while Minnesota, Northwestern, Maryland, Penn St, and Purdue all have massive upgrades currently being built. And these are no small $5million renovations, they are projects ranging from $20m -$155m. In college football money talks, and it looks like the B1G is buying itself back to the top of college football.

The Big as a whole is far from rejuvenated. They have OSU and a lot of of mediocrity.

Michigan State has won the Rose Bowl and Cotton Bowls the last 2 years. Finished top 5 both years and is preseason #6 this year.
Wisconsin has been to 2 Rose Bowls the last 4 years and has been top 25.
Michigan hired only the most interesting HC Jim Harbaugh and will be relevant by next year.
Penn State and Nebraska have history and can recruit nationally.

Yeah the Big Ten is a pile of mediocrity.

Even if they are average right now, which I don't think they are, they won't be for long. The money they have coming in is being reinvested into facilities, coaching salaries, and support staff.

The same goes for the Pac 12. I can't even find the Pac12 Network on my TV, but they also have a monster television deal that has allowed the conference, almost to a school, to do massive upgrades to their facilities.

In my dream scenario Syracuse will ultimately have a major Football facility overhaul that will be built connected to the IPF. Most schools have it where the IPF is connected to everything else, so I can see a separate facility being built on the side that would put it between the IPF and practice fields, giving them easy entrance to both. Obviously something like this will go somewhere in the range of at minimum $50m, so i'm really hitting the pipe tonight, but ultimately when an overhaul needs to be made, I think that's the way to go.

I agree Minnesota freaking Minnesota just snagged a top 100 recruit WR from FL. The Big Ten money is going to help their programs if they can get recruits out of the South.

Pac-12 Network until they get a partner will cost the network money in the short term. If they can get on DTV and other providers the money will eventually flow in. The Pac-12 Network right now is the only network from BTN, SECN, that isn't making a profit yet.

Yes actually it is a lot of mediocrity.

People are actually arguing that the B10 sucks? I guess the ACC sucks too then.

I'd have to say the SEC is still the top dog but the P5 have really made up a lot of ground the last two years. They are followed by the B10 who I believe over took the PAC12 for the second best conference. PAC12 for third followed by the big12 and ACC who I think are interchangeable at 4 and 5.

I don't agree that the BIG10 is overrated and think in the next 2 to 3 years they could be top dogs.

I think the Pac-12 right now is better than the SEC till the SEC East powers wake up.
Pac-12 Oregon, Stanford, USC, UCLA, Arizona, Arizona State, Utah
SEC- Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Georgia, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Texas A&M

Big Ten was asleep because Penn State and Michigan are down. Sanctions didn't kill Penn State like they should have but made them mediocre. Franklin sadly will have them as a top 25 team. Michigan with Harbaugh becomes a national player. Along with Ohio State, Michigan State, Wisconsin who have contended the Big Ten is fine. Then teams like Iowa, Northwestern, Minnesota are decent middle teams.
