only difference is we weren't still bringing corner blitzes and punt blocks up 50+ in the 3rd quarter (stay classy Mike)

we finished 7-6 that year and won the Texas bowl but lost handily to every ranked team we played. People need to calm down over how "uber talented" Maryland all or the sudden are after blowing out Howard for their first win in their last 5 games played off the back of a 5-7 season...

Cuse by 20+

If we’re going to be a good team, Maryland is a game we should expect to win. If those type of games aren’t considered wins, we are just an average team. Which would still be better then recent history but not what most people are thinking right now.

Those of us who are rightfully concerned with Maryland are NOT overreacting to what they did to Howard. Its about their talent level and transfers that are going to pose a tough matchup for Cuse, along with OL struggles. That's all.

really has nothing to do with maryland. it has to do with how pedestrian the offense looked against liberty. 368 yards and 17 first downs is frankly a little scary and throw in 3 turnovers and 10 penalties.

How far we've come... we would have been thrilled with those stats in 2014 and 2015. I do agree however that we need to limit turnovers and penalties, which I think we'll do from week 1 to week 2.

Those of us not freaking out are considering the fact that the old ramrod for MD has shown zero ability to act as a head coach. 4-31. Wins over Rutgers, Howard, Colorado State, and Wyoming. He has beaten exactly 1 P5 team and that was a Kyle Flood farewell tour team that also cannibalized the ever so lovely Julie Herman at the end of the season as well.

BTW here is the season record of the teams he beat in the year he beat them:

CoSt 3-9 (0-8 MWC)
Rutgers 4-8 (1-7 B1G)
Wyoming 3-9 (1-7 MWC)
Howard - we don't need Howard's record

We are coaching against maybe the worst D1 coach in all of football right now. He might actually be worse than Ash.

Also:
We played against FBS athletes in week 1, MD did not.

There is no reason to think MD will be a push-over. There is also plenty of evidence that says we should win this game if TD plays even a smidge better than he did last Sat.

Yes, we've come a long way from 2 of the worst coaches in program history but that wasn't even good offense for CoachP.

Howard is absolutely awful. They’re horrible. I feel sorry for everyone on the team, they are bad.

I am worried about our offense though still.

You know, I'm confident and concerned. I don't know that the offense is going to magically be great, but as long as it is closer to average, then I feel good. Incremental improvement should be enough to at least keep it close. Ultimately I expect this game to come down to coaching; and Mr. 4-31 on the opposing sideline is a nice site to see.

I feel like we're going to be focused and ready, Tommy will improve and the defense will make plays. I'm sticking with my 34-24 prediction.
