Just read his car wash article on the sub standard, and I'm really impressed by this kids maturity. He's a leader and I believe in him. I think his maturity and ability to learn will make up for an average arm and an average release. Fingers are crossed this kid has a breakout year.

yeah - I keep thinking that those who write him off do at their own peril. But then I remember last season.

I'm truly torn. I think it could go either way. I don't like reading about how he'll be running less. He got hurt in the pocket. I think we need his legs.

He's crazy to think he's not going to run a lot. It's one of his biggest strengths.

I think he will be getting the ball out faster to Erv, Ashton, Steve, etc. So that will limit his runs a bit as well. 6'3 225 is still a load. Won't hurt if he is even faster.

I wish someone would tell him that it's possible to stick to a rigid routine without driving to spend money on a car wash once a week.

But I am rooting for Hunt and expect him to have a good year if his line doesn't let him down.

I really believe he will be a top 5 QB in the ACC this year.

That's a huge vote of confidence for both Hunt and Lester's system... Any special reason for the optimism?

a wise man once said...'everyone has a plan, till they get punched in the mouth'.

staying in missouri on ole happy feet.

which is tough because he won by running...

Agreed. I remember being uber-confident on Hunt heading into last season, based upon how he played at the end of the previous season, him being such a leader, etc. Last season was a debacle from the first half of the first game.

It would be a great redemption story for him to lead the team back to a bowl. And I think he could surprise and do it, but I'm with Kaiser on needing to be shown that he can be an effective pocket passer. Nothing against Hunt--I'm a big fan, and I agree with those in this thread commending him for showing such maturity / leadership. Kid has a great attitude. Question is, can he get it done on the field?

Hope so. We need a big year from him.

I think it's reasonable to be both skeptical and hopeful based on his collective past performances, IMO.

People love saying how qb's who are known for running are going to do it much less. Those who actually execute that plan are very limited.

Running is natural for these guys. They don't do it just to do it. Vick, RG3, Cam Newton. You can say all you want how they won't run but at the end of the day ... It's just second nature.

Lester's offense may suit Hunt better. He was simply not great at bubble screens.
the best outcome of mcf'its bubble screens was an incomplete pass. hunt's poor passes was a feature not a bug

If he abandons the run to become a drop back passer exclusively we will be lucky to match last years win total.

He seems to be a very mature, very smart young man.

I'm really rooting for him.
me too, the issue is does he have the tools for starting d1 qb---i think not---his passing is truly an issue

The OLine is a factor also. I hope our DLine is so much better and that was why the OLine didn't look so good in the spring game. Until they show otherwise, he may have no other choice than to run a lot.

We just witnessed one of the worst offensively coordinated units in team history. Without having any clue if a competent coordinator is in place, how can you think we will have a top 5 QB?

We've changed the rules.

Since recruits, players and their parents, friends & families read the board...we have to be nothing but fake positive all the time.

This is a Pro-Syracuse propaganda site.

pods of 5. scheduling wrinkle

I hope all the optimism comes to light because I do like Hunt and had hoped for great success last year as well. I hope he has really, really, really, really, really worked on his passing touch. I'm fine with the occasional overthrown bomb, but when he missed all those swing passes to receivers and backs I just cringed - those are lost plays and its solely on Hunt. Would love to see quick slants to our athletic receivers/H-backs/whatever in stride to take advantage of what athleticism we have.

Looks like some of what he DID work on out in CA was his mechanics so I'm hoping this is the year he puts it all together and gives us a great show.

So, there. There is my bit of optimism to add to this thread.

This has been Kaiser, ladies and gentlemen... Able to take anything and exaggerate it to its extreme. His ability to both build up and destroy straw-men is legendary.

I said earlier I didn't know what to think. That I believe you can be skeptical and hope for the best. That's a fair take.

He was flat out awful last year. The end of year one looked like things were starting to click. Then the bottom fell out. I think it's fair to criticize and fair to wonder how much of that was Mcit.

Say what you want, no one is stopping you.

Rocco tends to have more info and insight than the average schmo. Hence my follow up about why he is so optimistic.

From what the staff directly told a few of us.
