Hunt has got to be better than that. The pass to broyld was nice.

Hunt 10-17, 94 yards, 0 td, 0 int 105 rating
Wilson 11-17, 89 yards, 0 td, 0 int 109 rating

yuck. easy to forget hunt threw as much as wilson did, gotta be better than that

Hunt also had a nice 20+ yard run and 3 rushes for 25 yards total and Wilson almost was put in ICU on his two attempted runs (which is a whole other topic as to why he was even running).

the bright side we completed one 20 yard pass.. the bad side we didnt come close to completing any other long passes. we threw 2-3 out of bounds, threw to the wrong person, or threw it 10 ft over someones head.. you cant miss high and lucky to get away with no INTs.

I too felt like he played bad but that's not too awful of a stat line. Hopefully our standard of a bad game for Hunt changes a lot from last year.

17 passes for 94 yards is awful.

that's not even counting the fumblepass. throwfumble? laterumble?

I think you have to give him a full game to analyze. He only had what, 3+ drives, and it was the first game of the year? First and third led to scores (with help from the dummy who ran into the kicker). He was leading us on a nice 4th drive, had 2nd and 4 at their 34, and then he's gone.

2nd drive was derailed by the lateralumble, which wasn't his fault. Yeah, the pass went backwards, but he threw it to the guy standing there.

His #'s in this offense probably aren't going to be great from a rating standpoint. We just don't throw down the field enough. But if we score on a high enough % of the drives, it won't matter.

i think the correct term is thrumble. thrumble in the jumble

average qb rating is about 130-135. that's what i'm hoping for. even with his legs, it's hard to get much done when you're below 125 rating

*****
since 2010, above 125 rating 17-7. Below 125 rating 11-16. We've had more below 125 than above. That has got to change. 125 is not good

i know a lot of this is nassib who didn't run as much but it's a big reason why i harp on qb rating

last year - below 125 4-6 record, above 125, 3-0.

if you set the bar at 115, we were 2-5 below it and 5-1 above it last year

we're 15-0 since 2010 when we have a QB rating over 150. 150 is good but it's not unheard of

2-2 when between 130 and 150

10-13 between 100 and 130 (Dixon put us here with his 1-1, 1 yd, 1 td performance)

2-7 when below 100

this is a jumbled mess

*****Disclaimer done very haphazardly in excel as quickly as possible

what are the odds that heading into Giants Stadium, dixon will still be leading the team(or at least tied) in TD passes??

it depends on whether they start him, which they probably should

Yes he does. He wasn't sharp--at all.

What is the the HCSS/OCGMcD philosophy on scripted plays to start a game? Do they stick to the list regardless of situation (more or less) to get the info/photos they need on the other teams tendencies? If so, some of the plays Hunt ran in the early drives (which are the only drives he played in) may not have been a focus of the game plan, but "throwaways" used to set up other things later. So his early performance isn't necessarily indicative of how the rest of the game would go.

i am tired of the throwaways. college football is too high scoring to be wasting drives on setting anything up

We only had the ball for 22 minutes the whole game. Not enough time for either QB to find a rhythm. We don't have the Horses to be Oregon-like yet. Time of Possession is super important unless you put up 50 points a game like Baylor, Oregon, Texas a&m. Our defense was on the field way too long which helped Nova sustain drives at the end of the game. We have a stable of backs that we should let loose. GMac needs to coach to his personnel. I'm in the group that hates rotating so many wideouts too. Bugged the crap out of me. Theres a time and place to do that, not every other play. I will end this by agreeing with the people that are confused about the lack of playing time for Devante Mcfarlane. Dude has done nothing but produce. He looks like the best back on the team when they actually let him play. I don't get it. Here's to hoping we look much better when we get our O-line back, and Estime gets healthy. Almost forgot to add, Ishmael looked really good. That kid was a huge pickup for us.

my concern is that there is way to much focus on hunt which detracts from the primary issue which is poor coaching. hunt was wrong done end of story. coaching was horrific and this is a more deep routed issue and harder to fix. i really am pulling for our coaches, but remain very concerned that they were all taken by surprise .the lack of physicality by our players and the unnecessary trash talking when they were getting their collective asses kicked was embarrassing, and immature. shut up please, and put up. as usual i will be at the maryland game hoping for the a major change ---in the uniform as well--(just a side commentary)

I just don't think you can draw many conclusions at this point about TH because he missed so much of the game, he really didn't have an opportunity to get in any kind of rhythm. Hopefully with 2 weeks to prepare and the line being healthier, we'll get a better view vs CMU.
