I'm sure if Doug got canned he would stay in the NFL as a coordinator of some sort. Many posters on here have said that the world of recruiting and glad handing in the college game was a huge turnoff for Dougie, so i assume hes more at home in the pro game.

but..

Lets just say for shilitz n giggles he gets fired...would you as Dr. gross reach out to Saint Dougie to see if he had any interest in returning? And, as a fan, would you want him back over Shafer

no, i can't wait for doug marrone to longer be affiliated with either team i root for. i don't want him at SU bitching about this or that, and i don't want him in buffalo coaching like an idiot. they just had a 3 and 6, two plays to get 6, they run a out pattern and then punt down 10 with 9 minutes left, for a net field change of 30 yards. the guy is a stiff.

he can come back to shine shoes in the concourse

Yes.

I'm upset that he left and over the way he left, but I'd take him back.

Of course not. That ship sailed.

No way would I want him back. When he left he gutted the staff amd whatever momentum we had.

He's not a college coach.

He's not a college coach.

we were a sneaky stepping stone for his NFL aspirations. i'd put his chances of coming back at .5% if Gross was fired and the new AD was one of his personal friends or something. A weird dynamic where he could get what he needed to run the program in a way he wanted to.

Not happening but that's the avenue for it happening. Doug is essentially a smoother Jeff Jagodzinski.

Bills coaches since the turn of the century.

Wade Phillips 19982000
Gregg Williams*20012003*
Mike Mularkey 20042005
Dick Jauron 20062009
Perry Fewell*2009*
Chan Gailey 20102012
Doug Marrone*2013

Why is everyone so eager to get rid of Marrone? Considering the beginning of this list is also the last time you saw the postseason.

Who's next? Jim Schwartz? A hot shot college coach? A hot shot Coordinator?

The grass isn't always greener. And I'm not even making this post because I'm backing Marrone. I'm making this post because from an objective standpoint, the Bills are better to watch right now, than they have been since Jim Kelly was in uniform. The Bills are playing harder and more competitive than they have in awhile.

New owner or not, cleaning house... Again... May not and probably won't solve the Bills problems.

From an objective viewpoint, Marrone is exactly like all those other guys.

They are not better to watch than some of Wade Phillips teams. This is crazy talk. Kelly wasn't on those teams.

Gregg Williams 0.354
Mike Mularkey 0.438
Dick Jauron 0.421
Perry Fewell 0.429
Chan Gailey 0.333
Doug Marrone 0.407

You're talking strictly winning percentage. What coach is going to come in and change that immediately?

IMO there's more to the game than that. There is more talent offensively on this team than any time in the recent history. The defense is above average. A QB on this team changes the entire dynamic, which is fair to say, was Marrone's doing in drafting Manuel. Orton was a scramble move to bring in a serviceable vet to scrape together the most wins possible in the event Manuel didn't work.

you brought up all those old coaches as a reason not to fire marrone.

the bills are no worse off for firing any of those clowns since philips. i liked fewell and they didn't give him a shot. and they'll be no worse off firing marrone.

you can't keep a stupid head coach. the worst case scenario for firing any of these dopes is 6-10 like every friggin year

Those other coaches weren't my reason for not firing Marrone, the other coaches were used to reinforce the fact that they are currently no worse off than at any time in the past 15 years.

My reason for not firing Marrone is it seems like pieces are in place to take a step in accordance with the effort and edge the Bills are playing with. Something that has no metric to gauge, just a feeling.

Again, I'm not a Bills guy and don't follow them faithfully, but, I know that I've watched them more than at anytime in the past decade this season. And, that's not because I want to watch Doug Marrone decide to punt from his 38. It's because they've been entertaining.

Starting over again means a new guy, with a new qb, who wants new personnel. Then you're right back to square one. Not just in this case, but in general, I'm an advocate for developing a program. It takes time IMO.

And I agree on Fewell, I think he has some solid momentum going in 2009. I'm souring on him as the DC in NY though.

well whooooooopdeedoo

marrone sucks the same as jauron. i would give him a cookie but he would punt it away

bills fans know what stupid coaches look like

Leach will be available next season as a head coach ... but even his shine is starting to tarnish for the what have you done for me lately crowd.

Even as a die hard Bills fan, that line cracked me up.

So let me ask a question. And, this is seriously because I'm just wondering what your philosophy would be. If a coach doesn't pass the eye test within two years, or whatever timeframe for that matter, would you scour the coaching market semi-annually until you found what you were looking for?

of course

have they been wrong to get rid of any of those guys?

No, they haven't.

It's just tough for me to view it like that because you never get the intangibles going that I think are so critical. Trust, continuity, etc. But, maybe that stuff doesn't matter anymore in an NFL where guys are coming and going week to week.

Look man, I enjoy your posts. But calling Marrone stupid is beyond the pale. By every measure he's an intelligent guy. He's no Mike Tice.

He may make dumb decisions or play it safe when you'd go for it. Doesn't make him stupid.

what measure shows that he's smarter than mike tice and why is it not beyond the pale to say that about tice?

fine, he makes stupid decisions all the time. and he graduated from SU in under 10 years. but let's assume he's bright

mike tice has a better record in the nfl

i think it's great to get intangibles going. you don't get years to do it. that's why they get paid the big bucks.

sure our record sucks but in a year or two we'll get those intangibles going

no thanks

Should have titled this thread the jilted girlfriend thread.
