Some of his recruits. Marrone ran a lot of guys off. GRob was somehow able to nab a few skill position gems but was terrible at building a whole roster, especially in the trenches. Marrone used Juco transfers to immediately upgrade the oline and strengthened a number of other position groups with smart moves. Moving Hogue to LB was really smart.GRob (RIP) was obviously a bad football strategist and gameday coach. Trying to make that West Coast offense work with slow lumbering Perry Patterson and slow receivers still haunts me.
But in his defense, the relative success we had from 2010-2012 with two Pinstripe Bowl wins were with his recruits.
I dont think Shafer was enough of an investment to be considered a mistake. He was a cheap continuity hire.In fairness Grob and Shafer could both have made the list
